Email verification buyer questions, answered
The short version: pick a verifier that does a real SMTP mailbox check, price it at your own list size and how often you re-check, and test it on an address you know is fake before you pay. SimpleVerifier’s first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in and no card. Each answer below links to the page with the evidence, and says where another product is the better pick.
What is the best email verifier?
There is no single best email verifier; the right one depends on list size, how often you re-check the list and whether you need an API. Going by published prices on 19 October 2026 (ours updated 22 October 2026), verifying 10,000 addresses month to month costs $19 on SimpleVerifier Growth, $23 on DeBounce and $25 on EmailListVerify. MillionVerifier sells a 10,000-credit pack for $39. At 25,000 a month every per-credit plan listed here costs more than our Pro plan ($29.99, never cut off: the first 100,000 a month run at full speed); at 5,000 a month, DeBounce and EmailListVerify cost less than Growth. Test any candidate with an address you invented at a real company domain: a verifier that does a real SMTP mailbox check returns invalid or risky, one that only checks syntax and MX returns valid.

What is the cheapest bulk email verification?
It depends on the list size and how often you verify it. For one list of 10,000, the lowest published price we found is Reoon at $11.90; SimpleVerifier costs $19 (one month of Growth, 10,000 emails a month). For one list of 100,000, SimpleVerifier costs $29.99 (one month of Pro); the lowest price we found elsewhere is EmailValidation.io at $94.99. Credit packs tend to win for one small pass; flat monthly plans tend to win for big or repeated lists.
How do I verify an email list before a cold email campaign?
Export the list as CSV, run it through a verifier that does an SMTP mailbox check, then import only the addresses marked valid into Instantly, Smartlead or lemlist. Remove invalid ones, and hold back or send slowly to risky ones (catch-all domains and servers that would not answer), because a verifier cannot confirm them. Re-check a list that is more than a few weeks old. The cold email list checker previews 10 addresses free, and the first 100 checks on a full list are free with a Google sign-in.

What is a cheaper ZeroBounce alternative?
ZeroBounce costs $99 a month for 10,000 credits, or pay as you go from $19.50 per 1,000 on a 2,000 pack, falling to $2.70 at 10,000,000 (read from zerobounce.net, checked 2026-10-12). SimpleVerifier Growth is $19 a month for 10,000 emails a month, and Pro is $29.99 a month with the first 100,000 emails at full speed and no hard cap. Keep ZeroBounce if you need their wider deliverability suite — inbox placement testing, blacklist monitoring and email server testing alongside verification. Other alternatives and their prices are on the comparison table.

Which email verification API should I use, and what does it cost?
SimpleVerifier's REST API returns valid, risky or invalid with a reason for each address, on the paid plans: Pro $29.99/mo includes 10,000 calls, then $1.50 per 1,000; Business $99/mo includes 100,000 calls, then $1.00 per 1,000; Agency $249/mo includes 300,000 calls, then $1.00 per 1,000 on monthly billing. Each key can make 120 calls a minute. Starter and Growth have no API access. Validation-API vendors that cost less at low volume are listed on the pricing page.

Can I verify emails inside Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT (MCP)?
Yes in Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf, and as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT and claude.ai: SimpleVerifier runs a remote MCP server with 6 tools (verify_email, verify_emails, get_job_results, check_phone_format, check_domain, get_usage), up to 100 addresses per verify_emails call, on a Pro, Business or Agency plan. ChatGPT and claude.ai add it by URL and sign in with your SimpleVerifier account (OAuth, as both vendors document); IDE clients can use an API key in a header.
Is there a free email verifier?
Yes. SimpleVerifier's first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in and no card, once per account, on the same SMTP mailbox check the paid plans run, for a CSV or one address at a time. Single checks on the free email checker need no account (five a minute). Most paid verifiers also give a small free allowance; the amounts are on each comparison page.
Evidence: Verify an email list free
How much does SimpleVerifier cost, and does it have team seats?
Starter $9/mo for 2,500 emails a month, Growth $19/mo for 10,000 emails a month; Pro $29.99/mo; Business $99/mo with 5 seats; Agency $249/mo with 15 seats and client workspaces. Live phone carrier lookups are a $20/mo add-on. Every plan is a monthly or yearly subscription that cancels anytime; there are no one-time packs.

Can an email verifier check Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo or iCloud addresses?
Partly, and an honest verifier tells you which. Gmail and Google Workspace answer mailbox checks clearly. Yahoo and AOL accept every address during the check, and SimpleVerifier does not probe Microsoft consumer mailboxes (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live) or iCloud, so those come back as risky rather than valid. Our mailbox provider study records how 51 providers answered, and each provider's verdict is on the mailbox provider pages.
How can I check if an email address exists without sending an email?
Use a verifier that does an SMTP mailbox check: it looks up the domain's mail servers, connects on port 25, asks whether the server would accept mail for the address at RCPT TO, and disconnects before any message is sent. The answer is only as good as the provider's reply, so catch-all domains, Yahoo and AOL (which accept every address) and Microsoft consumer mailboxes and iCloud (which SimpleVerifier does not probe) come back as risky, not valid. The free email checker does one address with no account.

How fast is bulk email verification?
On SimpleVerifier, list jobs run at up to about 60 addresses a minute while the day's check capacity lasts, about 30 a minute averaged over a day, shared by all customers. Bad syntax, dead domains and disposable addresses come back at once; a very large list queues and can take days, and each job shows an estimated finish time. Results confirmed in the last 14 days return instantly.

How these answers are sourced
- Every SimpleVerifier price, volume and seat count above is generated from the same plan data the checkout uses, so an answer can't drift from the real price.
- Competitor prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, and every comparison page shows the date it was read. Where another product is cheaper or a better fit, the answer names it.
- What the checker can and can't confirm at each provider comes from how it is built and from our own test checks on made-up addresses, published with the data in our research and on the mailbox provider pages.
- No ratings, review counts or accuracy percentages appear here, because we don't have an independent measurement to back one. Reviewed by SimpleVerifier Team.
Test it on a real address first
Type any address. It gets the same check the paid plans run: syntax, the domain’s mail servers and, where the provider allows it, a live mailbox check. Nothing is sent to the address.
Five checks a minute, no account needed. Nothing is sent to the address — we ask its mail server whether the mailbox exists, then disconnect.
