What bounce rate gets an email account suspended?

It depends on the platform. Brevo can suspend above a 2% hard bounce rate, HubSpot at 5% in a month, and Amazon SES places an account under review at 5% and may pause it at 10%. Postmark requires under 10%. Mailchimp and Mailgun enforce thresholds they do not publish.

What happens at the line

Amazon SES moves an account to review, then may pause sending. Instantly and lemlist auto-pause campaigns (Instantly at 5% by default after 200 or more sends; lemlist alerts at 10% and pauses at 50%). All figures are from each vendor's own help pages, read on 1 October 2026; check them before relying on them.

Fix the cause (clean the list, suppress bounces), then follow the platform's review process. Verifying the list before you ask shows you addressed it.

Sources

Figures marked as ours come from SimpleVerifier’s own dated tests on made-up addresses, published with their data on the research page. No customer data is used, and we publish no accuracy percentage because we have no independent measurement to back one.

Do it now

Test it on a real address first

Type any address. It gets the same check the paid plans run: syntax, the domain’s mail servers and, where the provider allows it, a live mailbox check. Nothing is sent to the address.

Five checks a minute, no account needed. Nothing is sent to the address — we ask its mail server whether the mailbox exists, then disconnect.
