How we compared

We read each tool's own page on 19 October 2026 for per-run limits, signup and price. Most registries now answer through RDAP, the standard that replaces WHOIS, and most owner details are redacted for privacy, so we compared registrar, dates, status and nameservers rather than owner contacts.

Each tool in a few lines

  1. 1. SimpleVerifier bulk WHOIS lookup(our tool)

Best for: Registrar, dates, status, nameservers and DNSSEC for a list, as CSV

    • Queries each TLD's own RDAP registry, 20 domains at a time
    • Registrar, registered, updated and expiry dates, status, nameservers and DNSSEC per row, with CSV download
    • Watch out: While a sign-in test runs, some visitors are asked to sign in (free, with Google) after 25 rows; everyone else gets the full run without an account.
    • Watch out: No owner contact data, which most registries redact anyway

Common questions

What is a bulk WHOIS lookup?
It looks up the registration record of many domains at once: registrar, creation, update and expiry dates, status codes and nameservers. Modern tools read RDAP, the JSON successor to WHOIS that registries now run.
Can I do a bulk WHOIS lookup without signing up?
Yes. SimpleVerifier takes up to 500 unique domains a run and Abacktools 20, both without an account. WhoisXML API and Apify actors need an account and charge per domain past their free allowance.
Why is the registrant name missing?
Since GDPR, most registries and registrars redact registrant contact details from public WHOIS and RDAP. The registrar, dates and status are still public; ICANN runs a request service for nonpublic data.
What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
WHOIS is the old free-text protocol on port 43. RDAP returns structured JSON over HTTPS, so fields like expiry date parse reliably. ICANN-accredited gTLD registries are required to run RDAP.
How do I check when a list of domains expires?
Run them through a bulk WHOIS or bulk expiry checker; both read the expiry date from the registry. SimpleVerifier also has a bulk domain expiry checker that sorts by days left.
