How do I verify emails in HubSpot before sending?
Export the contacts you plan to email as CSV, verify them, then re-import the results and use the status column to build a list for sending and a suppression list for the rest. Do this before enrolling contacts in sequences or sending marketing email, because HubSpot can suspend an account over a hard bounce rate of 5% in a month.
Steps
The steps, in order.
- Export the contacts with their Record ID so you can match results back.
- Verify the file and download the results.
- Re-import with an update-existing option, mapping the status to a custom contact property.
- Build an active list where status is valid and use it for sends and sequence enrolment; mark invalid contacts as unengaged or non-marketing.

Sources
Figures marked as ours come from SimpleVerifier’s own dated tests on made-up addresses, published with their data on the research page. No customer data is used, and we publish no accuracy percentage because we have no independent measurement to back one.
Do it now
Test it on a real address first
Type any address. It gets the same check the paid plans run: syntax, the domain’s mail servers and, where the provider allows it, a live mailbox check. Nothing is sent to the address.
Five checks a minute, no account needed. Nothing is sent to the address — we ask its mail server whether the mailbox exists, then disconnect.
