Facebook lead ads to email list: Meta lead form CSV to one row per lead, test leads removed
In short: Reads the leads CSV from Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager (UTF-16 tab-separated files included), or a LinkedIn or TikTok lead form export. Strips Meta's l:/c:/p: prefixes, merges repeat leads across forms and campaigns, reads a separate work email question, and sets test leads aside. Limit: Meta keeps leads for 90 days; older ones must come from your CRM.
To get an email list from Facebook lead ads, open Meta Business Suite > All tools > Instant Forms (or Ads Manager > Forms library), choose Download leads as CSV, and upload the file here. Repeat leads become one row with every campaign and form, test leads are set aside, and a separate work email question is read too.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I turn a Facebook lead ads download into an email list?
- In Meta Business Suite, go to All tools > Instant Forms, pick the form and choose Download leads > CSV (or use Ads Manager > Forms library). For LinkedIn, download leads from the Lead Gen Form in Campaign Manager; for TikTok, from Leads Center.
- Upload the file here, or paste it. Meta's UTF-16 tab-separated CSV is read as it is.
- Choose: set aside test leads, read a separate work email question, and keep only paid leads.
- Download the lead list, and the set-aside file with the reason per address.
Example
- You enter
- A Meta leads download with 6 rows: one person who filled two forms, one lead with a separate
work_emailanswer, one organic lead and one row from Meta's Lead Ads Testing Tool. - You get
- 5 addresses in the list: the repeat lead as one row with both campaigns, the work email as its own row, phone numbers with the
p:prefix removed; the test lead set aside asTest lead. - Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
How do I download leads from Facebook lead ads?
In Meta Business Suite, open All tools > Instant Forms, find the form and click Download, then choose CSV and the date range. The same download is in Ads Manager under Forms library. Meta keeps leads for 90 days, so download them often or connect a CRM.
The file names columns after the form fields (email, full_name, phone_number, plus your custom questions) and adds campaign_name, form_name, is_organic and platform. IDs and phone numbers carry prefixes like c: and p:+1; the tool removes them.
Why does the Facebook leads CSV open as one column in Excel?
Meta often saves the file as UTF-16 with tabs between fields, which Excel opens as one long column. Upload it here as it is: the byte-order mark is read, the tabs are found, and the columns come out right. You can also paste the cells straight from Excel.
Why do lead ads have so many fake or old emails?
Instant forms prefill the address from the person's Facebook or Instagram account. That is often an address set up years ago and no longer read, and a lead can tap Submit without looking. Edited addresses are typed on a phone keyboard. Adding a separate work email question helps; the tool reads it as its own row.
Leads made with Meta's Lead Ads Testing Tool hold values like <test lead: dummy data for email> and are set aside, so they don't end up in the CRM.
Is this faster than cleaning the leads file in Excel?
| This tool | Excel or Sheets | |
|---|---|---|
| UTF-16 tab file | Read as it is | Import wizard, pick encoding |
| l:, c:, p: prefixes | Removed | Find and replace per column |
| Repeat leads | One row, campaigns listed | Remove duplicates loses them |
| Test leads | Set aside with a reason | Find them by eye |
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Local service businesses
- Get the week's quote requests into one clean list before the follow-up email goes out.
- Agencies
- Hand a client one row per lead with campaign and form, test leads removed.
- Real estate and mortgage teams
- Merge leads that came in on several campaigns before importing them into the CRM.
- B2B marketers
- Use the work email answer from a LinkedIn or Meta form as its own row.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Meta keeps leads for 90 days; older ones must come from your CRM.
- Test leads are found by Meta's dummy-data values and test@ addresses, not every made-up entry.
- It can't tell which addresses still have a working inbox.
- Consent questions on the form are kept as columns you can filter; the tool doesn't judge what they allow.
Common questions
- Can I download Facebook leads to Excel?
- Yes. Download leads as CSV from Instant Forms or the Forms library. If Excel shows one column, upload the file here instead and download the clean CSV.
- Does it work with Instagram lead ads?
- Yes. Instagram leads come in the same Meta download; the platform column shows Facebook or Instagram for each lead.
- Does it work with LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms?
- Yes. LinkedIn's download has First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Company Name and Job Title, which are read the same way. TikTok lead exports work too.
- What does is_organic mean?
- The lead filled in the form without clicking an ad, for example from a shared post. Tick Keep only paid leads to set those aside.
- Is my lead file uploaded?
- No. It is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
