Disposable email checker
Paste an email address or a domain and this tool tells you whether it belongs to a known disposable provider, matched against 8,740 domains. The answer is instant and free, with no account and no rate limit, because it is a list lookup rather than a network request.
Checked against 8,740 known disposable domains. No rate limit — this is a list lookup, not a network call.
Why disposable addresses pass ordinary validation
This is the part that surprises people. A disposable address is not broken. The domain has real MX records, the mail server accepts the message, and at the moment you check it the mailbox genuinely exists. Every signal a verifier can measure says deliverable — because it is deliverable, for about the next twenty minutes.
So disposable detection cannot be derived from the address. There is no pattern, no DNS flag, nothing in the SMTP conversation that distinguishes a throwaway from a real mailbox. It is purely a question of whether the domain is on a list, which makes the list the entire product. Ours holds 8,740 domains, loaded from a file beside the verification engine so it can be refreshed without shipping code, with the free providers — Gmail, Outlook and the rest — explicitly subtracted so a real mail host can never be misclassified.

Common questions
- How do I check if an email is a disposable address?
- Compare the domain against a list of known throwaway providers. Paste any address or domain into the tool above and it is matched against 8,740 disposable domains. The check is instant because it is a list lookup rather than a network request — there is nothing about the address itself that reveals it is temporary, so detection depends entirely on the quality of the list.
- Why do disposable emails pass normal validation?
- Because they are genuinely working addresses at the moment you check them. The domain has valid MX records, the mail server accepts the message, and the mailbox exists. Everything a verifier can measure says deliverable. What it cannot measure is that the mailbox will be discarded within hours, which is why disposable detection has to be a separate check from mailbox verification.
- Should I block disposable email addresses at signup?
- For paid products and free trials, usually yes — a throwaway address is the standard way to farm repeat trials, and there is no way to reach that user again. For content signups it is a judgement call, since some people use throwaways for legitimate privacy reasons. A middle path is to allow the signup but require a confirmed second address before anything valuable is granted.
- How many disposable email domains are there?
- Tens of thousands, and the number moves constantly because new domains are cheap and providers rotate through them deliberately. Our list currently holds 8,740 domains and is refreshed from a file rather than hardcoded, so it can be updated without a code change. Any vendor claiming complete coverage is overstating it.
- Are disposable email addresses the same as spam traps?
- No. A disposable address belongs to a real person who wanted one message and no relationship. A spam trap belongs to nobody and exists purely to catch senders with poor list practices. Disposables waste your list; spam traps can get your domain blocklisted. Both are reasons to verify before sending, but only one is an emergency.
Disposable detection answers one question. To find out whether a mailbox actually exists, use the free email checker — and for a whole list at once, see pricing.
Disposable detection is one check of several.
A domain can be perfectly ordinary and the mailbox still fake. This tool cannot tell you that.
