Close CRM leads to email list: one row per contact, unsubscribes set aside
In short: Reads a Close contacts or leads CSV: contact email (or primary contact email), extra emails optional, several addresses in one cell split, unsubscribed / do-not-email read only as an opt-out, lead name kept as company, repeats merged. Limit: Close doesn't publish its CSV export headings; contact email, emails and any unsubscribe column are found by name from an inferred list, so check the notes above the result.
In Close, export from the Leads page with the export type set to Contacts, so each person gets a row, and upload the CSV here. Every contact email becomes a row with the lead name as company. Unsubscribed or do-not-email values are set aside; blank is not read as consent. Check what's left live before you send.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I check the send list before the next campaign?
- Download the send list here.
- Upload it at /verify. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files; catch-all domains are marked. The first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card.
- Send to the valid file, and keep the set-aside file as a suppression list.
How do I turn a Close CRM export into a clean email list?
- In Close, open Leads (or a Leads Smart View), filter or search if you like, open the three-dot menu and choose Export.
- Set the type to Contacts, the format to CSV, and common or all fields. Close emails a download link that lasts seven days.
- Upload the CSV here, or paste it. Tick the option to read extra email columns too; cells with several addresses are split.
- Download the send list and the set-aside file. Check the send list live before the sequence.
Example
- You enter
- A Close contacts export with 6 rows:
contact_emailsholding two addresses for Ana,unsubscribedtrue on Leo, asupport@contact on Contoso, and one contact with no email. - You get
- 3 contacts to send (
support@flagged as a role address, lead name kept as company), Leo set aside as unsubscribed, and 1 contact counted as having no email. Ticking the extra-emails option adds ana@example.com as a row. - Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
Why export Contacts and not Leads?
A Close lead is a company, and it can hold several contacts with several emails each. A Leads export flattens that into one row per company, which loses people. The Contacts export gives a row per person with the lead name alongside, which is what a send list needs.
If you only have a Leads export, the tool reads the primary contact email and, with the option ticked, any other email columns.
Does Close mark bounces in the export?
Not in a column the tool can rely on. Close's CSV leaves out activity history such as emails, so a bounce from a past sequence won't show. A live mailbox check on the send list is how to find the closed inboxes.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- SDR teams
- Pull every contact from a Smart View into a sequencer with one row per person.
- Founders
- Move a Close account's contacts into a newsletter tool, cleaned.
- RevOps
- Find role addresses and typos before a migration.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Close doesn't publish its CSV export headings; contact email, emails and any unsubscribe column are found by name from an inferred list, so check the notes above the result.
- Close's unsubscribes live with its email settings and may not appear as a column at all; if none is found, nobody can be set aside for unsubscribing.
- It can't tell which addresses have a working inbox today; that needs a live mailbox check.
Common questions
- Which Close columns does it read?
- A contact email or primary contact email, an emails column if you tick the option, any unsubscribed or do-not-email column, and the lead name as company. The notes above the result say which were found.
- Can I export from a Contacts Smart View?
- Close's help says exports run from a Leads Smart View; a Smart View built on the Contacts tab can't be exported.
- Is my contact list uploaded?
- No. The file is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
