Snov.io export to email list: not-valid set aside, unknown marked risky
In short: Reads a Snov.io prospect list CSV or XLSX, reads Email status (valid, unknown, not valid), sets aside not-valid and role addresses, keeps Email 2 out unless asked, merges repeats and flags webmail, typos and emails off the company website's domain. Limit: Snov.io doesn't publish its export column names, and the file has only the fields you tick; Email status and Email 2 are found by name from an inferred list, so check the notes above the result.
Export the prospect list from Snov.io with the email and email status fields ticked, and upload it here. Not-valid addresses and role addresses are set aside, unknown addresses are marked risky, repeats are merged, and addresses on a domain other than the company website are flagged. Then check the clean file live before the first send.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I check the Snov.io prospects before the campaign starts?
- Download the clean list here.
- Upload it at /verify. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files; catch-all domains are marked. The first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card.
- Send to the valid file first. Hold the risky and catch-all part back or send it slowly.
How do I clean a Snov.io export before sending?
- In Snov.io, open Prospects, pick the list, select the prospects and click Export. Tick the fields you want (email and email status included) and choose CSV or XLSX.
- Upload the file here, or paste it. The email, name, company, company URL and status columns are found by name.
- Choose what to set aside: not-valid and role addresses (on to start), unknown addresses, personal webmail. Tick the option to read Email 2 as well.
- Download the clean list and the set-aside file, each with a flags column.
Example
- You enter
- A Snov.io prospect list with 6 rows and an
Email statuscolumn: valid, unknown and not valid, asales@address, one lead on a domain other than the company URL, and one prospect with no email. - You get
- 3 in the list (unknown marked risky, the off-domain lead flagged),
sales@and the not-valid lead set aside, 1 row counted as having no email. Ticking the other-email option adds the Gmail inEmail 2as a flagged row. - Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
Why is unknown treated as risky?
An unknown result usually means the mail server wouldn't give a clear answer: it accepts every address, it greylisted the check, or it timed out. Those addresses aren't proven, and they're where most bounces in a list marked mostly valid come from. They're kept and marked risky to start; tick the option to set them aside.
A live mailbox check separates the domains that accept everything from the ones that just didn't answer the first time.
What about the Email 2 column?
Second addresses are often older or personal ones. They're left out unless you tick the option; then each becomes its own row, and the source_column says where it came from.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- SDRs
- Remove not-valid and generic inboxes from a Database Search pull before it goes into a drip campaign.
- Agencies
- Move a client's Snov.io prospects to another sequencer with the unknowns marked for a live check.
- Founders
- Check that a cheap list is worth sending to before it touches a new domain.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Snov.io doesn't publish its export column names, and the file has only the fields you tick; Email status and Email 2 are found by name from an inferred list, so check the notes above the result.
- It can't tell which addresses have a working inbox today, or which domains accept every address; that needs a live mailbox check.
- A prospect list is cold: nobody on it asked to hear from you. Follow the rules where your recipients are.
Common questions
- Does it re-verify the addresses?
- No. It reads the email status Snov.io wrote into the export. A status from weeks ago can be out of date; /verify checks each mailbox now.
- Can I upload the XLSX export?
- Yes. CSV, XLSX and pasted text all work.
- Is my prospect list uploaded?
- No. The file is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.
Sources
A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
