Cognism export to email list: verified kept, unverified marked, repeats merged
In short: Reads a Cognism list CSV, reads an email quality or verified column (verified, unverified, invalid), sets aside invalid and role addresses, merges repeats and flags personal webmail, typos and emails on a domain other than the company website. Limit: Cognism doesn't publish its CSV column names; the email and email quality columns are found by name from an inferred list, so check the notes above the result.
Download the revealed contacts from a Cognism list as CSV and upload it here. Verified addresses are kept, unverified ones are kept and marked risky, invalid and role addresses are set aside, repeats are merged, and personal webmail and off-domain addresses are flagged. Then check the clean file live before the first send.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I check the Cognism contacts before the sequence starts?
- Download the clean list here.
- Upload it at /verify. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files; catch-all domains are marked. The first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card.
- Load the valid file into Outreach, Salesloft or your sequencer; keep catch-all contacts in a separate, slower campaign.
How do I clean a Cognism export before cold emailing it?
- In Cognism, open Lists, open the list, select the revealed contacts and click Download CSV. Contacts have to be revealed first, which uses credits.
- Upload the CSV here, or paste it. The email, name, company, website and email quality columns are found by name.
- Choose what to set aside: invalid and role addresses (on to start), unverified addresses, personal webmail.
- Download the clean list and the set-aside file, each with a flags column.
Example
- You enter
- A Cognism list download with 6 contacts and an
Email Qualitycolumn: 3 Verified (one of themmarketing@), 2 Unverified (one a Gmail address) and 1 Invalid. - You get
- 4 in the list (2 verified, 2 unverified marked risky, the Gmail flagged as personal webmail),
marketing@set aside as a role address and the invalid one set aside. - Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
If Cognism verified the email, why check again?
A verification is true on the day it ran. B2B contacts change jobs, companies change mail providers, and a list downloaded today may have been verified weeks ago. Unverified rows haven't been checked at all. The tool keeps the verification as written; a live mailbox check shows which addresses exist now and which domains accept every address.
Why flag an email on a different domain?
When the email's domain doesn't match the company website in the same row, it's often a parent company, an old domain after a rebrand, or a pattern guess. Those are worth checking first.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- SDR teams
- Strip role addresses and repeats from a Cognism list before it goes into a sequence.
- RevOps
- Flag domain mismatches before an import creates wrong-company records in the CRM.
- Agencies
- Check a client's Cognism download is safe to send before it touches their domains.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Cognism doesn't publish its CSV column names; the email and email quality columns are found by name from an inferred list, so check the notes above the result.
- It can't tell which addresses have a working inbox today, or which domains accept every address; that needs a live mailbox check.
- A lead database list is cold. In the UK and EU, B2B outreach has its own rules; the tool doesn't make a list compliant.
Common questions
- Does it work with a Cognism export from a CRM?
- Yes, as long as the file has an email column. Columns synced into Salesforce or HubSpot keep their CRM names; the email and company columns are still found by name.
- Does it keep mobile numbers?
- The output is an email list. Phone columns aren't carried through; use the phone tools for those.
- Is my list uploaded?
- No. The file is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
