Flodesk subscribers to email list: unsubscribed, bounced, spam and cleaned set aside
In short: Reads a Flodesk subscriber CSV, which holds every status: Active kept, Unconfirmed kept as unknown, Unsubscribed and Archived set aside, Bounced, Complained (marked spam) and Cleaned always set aside; segments kept as labels, repeats merged. Limit: Flodesk's help lists the subscriber statuses and what the export contains, but not the exact column headings or how each status is spelled in the file; columns are found by name, so check the notes above the result.
In Flodesk, go to Audience > Segments, hover over All subscribers (or one segment), click the three dots and choose Download CSV. Flodesk emails the link to your login address and it expires after 24 hours. The file includes unsubscribed, bounced and spam-marked contacts, so upload it here: those are set aside, active subscribers are kept with their segments, and repeats merge. Check what's left live before you send.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I check the list before the next email?
- Download the email list here.
- Upload it at /verify. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files; catch-all domains are marked. The first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card.
- Send to the valid file, and keep the set-aside file as your suppression list.
How do I turn a Flodesk export into a clean email list?
- In Flodesk, go to Audience > Segments.
- Hover over All subscribers for the whole list, or over one segment.
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the card and choose Download CSV.
- Download the file from the email sent to your Flodesk login address (the link expires after 24 hours) and upload it here, or paste it.
Example
- You enter
- A Flodesk subscriber export with 8 rows:
StatusActive, Unsubscribed, Bounced, Unconfirmed, Complained, Archived and Cleaned, segments, and aninfo@address. - You get
- 3 subscribers in the list (Kim as Unknown for Unconfirmed, segments kept as labels), Leo and Sam set aside as unsubscribed or archived, and Mia, Raj and Zoe set aside as bounced, complained or cleaned.
- Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
How is each Flodesk status read?
Active subscribers can receive your emails and are kept. Unconfirmed subscribers haven't clicked the double opt-in link yet, or came in through a post-purchase or abandoned cart workflow without marketing consent; they stay in the list marked Unknown, and the subscribed-only option sets them aside.
Unsubscribed is set aside, and so is Archived: Flodesk archives subscribers you remove from the sending list and, on its own, after repeated soft bounces. Untick the option to keep both. Bounced (a hard bounce), Complained (marked your email as spam) and Cleaned (flagged invalid or risky, a permanent status) are always set aside.
Why does the export include unsubscribed people?
Flodesk's export holds everyone in the segment, including unsubscribed, bounced and spam-marked contacts, and the All subscribers view shows inactive records too. That makes the set-aside file a ready suppression list when you move to another platform.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Creators
- Move a Flodesk list to another platform without re-subscribing anyone who left, bounced or complained.
- Small businesses
- Get a plain list of active subscribers with segments kept for a one-off send.
- Agencies
- Clean a client's Flodesk export before a migration and keep a suppression file.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Flodesk's help lists the subscriber statuses and what the export contains, but not the exact column headings or how each status is spelled in the file; columns are found by name, so check the notes above the result.
- Archived can mean you removed someone by hand or Flodesk archived them after soft bounces; the export doesn't say which.
- It can't tell which addresses have a working inbox today; that needs a live mailbox check.
Common questions
- Which Flodesk columns does it read?
- The email, first and last name, status and segments columns. Flodesk's help describes what the export contains but not its column headings, so they're found by name; the notes above the result say which were found.
- My CSV email never arrived. What now?
- Flodesk's help says the export email may not arrive when your login email is on a custom domain, and suggests switching the login email to a free provider such as Gmail, exporting again, and switching back.
- Is my subscriber list uploaded?
- No. The file is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
