Compare two phone number lists: what's in both, and what's only in one
In short: Matches two lists on the number, not the text: (415) 555-0100 in one matches +14155550100 in the other. Download A without B, the overlap, or B without A. Limit: It doesn't check the National Do Not Call Registry; you supply the list to compare against.
Paste or upload two phone lists and this tool converts every number to E.164 before comparing, so (415) 555-0100 in one list matches +14155550100 in the other. You get the rows in both lists, the rows only in A and the rows only in B, each as a CSV with your columns kept. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Price: this tool is free. Live line type and carrier lookups come with Pro + Phone at $49.99/mo; email checking is from $9/mo. See pricing

How do I compare two phone number lists?
- Put your working list in A: a call list, an SMS audience or a CRM export. CSV columns are kept.
- Put the numbers to check against in B: opt-outs, your internal do-not-call list, existing customers or last month's list.
- Pick the default country, used for numbers written without a + code, and choose whether extensions count as different numbers.
- Press Compare the lists, then download A without B (your cleaned list), the overlap, or B without A.
Example
- You enter
- List A:
(415) 555-0100,+1 212 555 0199,+44 20 7946 0958,646.555.0123and555-1234. List B:+14155550100,+44 20 7946 0958,555 1234and+1 312 555 0142. Default country United States. - You get
- 3 rows of A are in B:
(415) 555-0100as+14155550100,+44 20 7946 0958, and555-1234matched on its digits because it isn't a full number. 2 rows only in A, 1 only in B. Download A without B, the overlap or B without A. - Limits
- Up to 500 rows per list a run without an account and 25,000 when signed in with Google; files up to 25 MB, read in your browser.
Why doesn't VLOOKUP or COUNTIF find matching phone numbers?
Because spreadsheets compare text, and the same number is written many ways. (415) 555-0100, 415-555-0100, +1 415 555 0100 and 4155550100 are one phone line but four different values to VLOOKUP, COUNTIF or a database join, so opt-outs slip back onto the call list. Exports from dialers, SMS platforms, web forms and CRMs almost never agree on a format.
This tool parses every number with libphonenumber, Google's open-source numbering-plan library, and compares the E.164 form: a +, the country code and the national number with no spaces or punctuation. Entries that aren't valid numbers are compared by their digits instead, so two copies of the same malformed entry still match.
Can I use it to remove do-not-call numbers?
Yes, for a list you hold: put your call list in A and your opt-outs or internal do-not-call list in B, then download A without B. Under the FCC's rules (47 CFR 64.1200(d)) telemarketers must keep a list of people who asked not to be called and honour it, and this is a quick way to apply that list to a new file.
It does not check the National Do Not Call Registry. That list is only available to registered organisations from the FTC's telemarketer site, and you'd download your area codes from there and use them as list B. Read more on the DNC registry.
What about numbers written without a country code?
They're read with the default country you pick, for both lists. 020 7946 0958 is a London number when the default is the United Kingdom and isn't valid at all when it's the United States, so if one list stores +44 20 7946 0958 and the other 020 7946 0958, set the default to the United Kingdom. A number with a + code is read correctly whatever you pick.
Matching is exact on the number. It can't tell that two different numbers belong to the same person, and a match doesn't mean either number is in service; for that, run what's left through the bulk phone number validator.
Is this better than VLOOKUP?
| This tool | VLOOKUP or COUNTIF | |
|---|---|---|
| (415) 555-0100 vs +14155550100 | Match | No match |
| 020 7946 0958 vs +44 20 7946 0958 | Match (UK default) | No match |
| Output | A without B, overlap, B without A as CSV | A formula column to filter by hand |
| Extensions | Ignored or kept, your choice | Part of the text |
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Call centres and dialer teams
- Take opt-outs and your internal do-not-call list off a new call list before it's loaded into the dialer.
- SMS teams
- Remove people who replied STOP from the next campaign's audience, whatever format the SMS platform exported them in.
- Sales ops
- Find which leads from a vendor file are already customers or already in the CRM.
- Agencies
- Show a client which numbers two lead sources share before paying for both.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- It doesn't check the National Do Not Call Registry or any state list; you supply list B.
- Numbers without a + code are read with one default country for both lists.
- A match is the same number; it can't link two different numbers held by one person.
- Up to 500 rows per list a run without an account and 25,000 when signed in.
Common questions
- How do I compare two lists of phone numbers in Excel?
- Excel's VLOOKUP and COUNTIF only match numbers typed identically. Save both sheets as CSV and compare them here: each number is converted to E.164 first, so different formats still match, and you download the result with every column kept.
- How do I remove opt-outs from a phone list?
- Put the list in A and the opt-outs in B, press Compare the lists and download A without B. Every row whose number is on the opt-out list is removed, whatever format either list used.
- Does this check the National Do Not Call Registry?
- No. The registry is only open to registered organisations through the FTC. If you have access, download the numbers for your area codes and use them as list B.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. Both lists are read and compared in your browser, and the downloads are built there too.
- How many numbers can I compare?
- Up to 500 rows per list a run without an account, and 25,000 per list when you sign in with Google. Files can be up to 25 MB.

This tool fixes how numbers are written. It cannot tell you whether a line is mobile, landline or VoIP, or which carrier holds it. That takes a live carrier lookup, which is what Pro + Phone ($49.99/mo) adds.
- Upload a CSV up to 100,000 rows with an email or phone column
- 5,000 live carrier lookups a month: carrier name and real line type
- Emails in the same file get a real SMTP mailbox check
