Clover customers to email list: every address on its own row
In short: Reads the customer CSV from the Clover web dashboard (Customers > Export), splits cells that hold several addresses into one row each, reads a marketing-allowed column when the file has one, sets aside opt-outs and merges repeats with phone kept. Limit: Clover doesn't publish its export headers; columns are found by name, so check the notes above the result.
To get an email list from Clover, open Customers in the Clover web dashboard, choose Export and upload the CSV here. Clover can put several addresses in one cell, so each becomes its own row; customers marked as not allowing marketing are set aside, repeats merge, and you download a list ready for your email tool.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I export Clover customers to an email list?
- In the Clover web dashboard, open Customers and choose Export. Clover exports the whole customer list.
- Upload the CSV or Excel file here, or paste it.
- Choose: set aside customers who don't allow marketing (on to start), or keep only customers marked as allowing it.
- Download the email list and the set-aside file with the reason per address.
Example
- You enter
- A Clover customer export with 6 customers: one cell holding two addresses with Marketing Allowed
false, one blank marketing field and one with only a phone number. - You get
- 4 in the email list (3 allowing marketing and 1 Unknown). The two-address cell becomes 2 rows, both set aside as not accepting marketing, and the phone-only customer is counted as having no address.
- Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
Why does the Clover export put several emails in one cell?
A Clover customer can have more than one email address, and integrators report that the export writes them all into one column. Most email tools read that cell as one broken address and reject the row. This tool splits the cell, so each address becomes its own row with the same name, phone and consent.
Integrators also report the export leaves out notes, business name, birthday and purchase history, and that it has topped out around 1,000 customers. If your file stops short, check the count against the dashboard.
Can I email customers from my Clover till?
Clover's own import template has an "Is Marketing Allowed?" field, and its import guide asks merchants to confirm they have permission to market to the customers they load. When your export has a marketing column, customers marked false or no are set aside. Without one, every customer is kept and the notes say so; check the rules where your customers are before a promotional send.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Restaurants and cafés
- Email regulars about a new menu without mailing customers who said no to marketing.
- Retail shops
- Move a Clover customer list into Mailchimp or Klaviyo with each address on its own row.
- Salons and services
- Build a client list for appointment reminders and offers.
- POS migrations
- Clean the Clover list before importing it into Square, Shopify POS or another system.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Clover doesn't publish its export headers; columns are found by name, so check the notes above the result.
- The export may stop around 1,000 customers, per integrators; this tool can only read what's in the file.
- A blank marketing field isn't consent; check the rules where your customers are.
- It can't tell which addresses still have a working inbox.
Common questions
- Can I export only some Clover customers?
- Clover exports the whole customer list, not a filtered part, according to Shopify's Clover migration guide. Filter afterwards here or in a spreadsheet.
- Does it work with Toast, Lightspeed or other POS exports?
- Any customer CSV with an email column works. A marketing or subscription column is read when there is one.
- What about customers with only a phone number?
- They're counted as having no address and left out. For texting, use the phone tools instead.
- Is my customer list uploaded?
- No. It is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
