LinkedIn URL cleaner: normalise profile URLs and find duplicates across lead files
In short: Rewrites every LinkedIn link as https://www.linkedin.com/in/<name> (or /company/, /school/), removing ?trk= and ?originalSubdomain= tracking, uk. and de. subdomains, trailing /details/ and /recent-activity/ pages and mixed case, marks rows that are the same person, and flags Sales Navigator, post and lnkd.in links that can't be converted. Limit: It doesn't open LinkedIn, so it can't tell whether a profile exists, moved or was renamed.
Paste your LinkedIn URLs, or a CSV with a LinkedIn column, and press Clean. Every profile and company link becomes one https://www.linkedin.com/in/… form, so the same person written two ways is caught as a duplicate. Sales Navigator, Recruiter, post and lnkd.in links are flagged, because only LinkedIn can turn them into a profile URL.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I check the addresses before the sequence starts?
- Download the cleaned CSV here, duplicates left out.
- Upload it at /verify. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files. The first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card.
- Send to the valid file.
How do I normalise LinkedIn profile URLs in a CSV?
- Export the lead files with their LinkedIn column (Apollo calls it Person Linkedin Url, Clay and Sales Navigator scrapers LinkedIn URL).
- Paste or upload one file, or several stacked into one CSV.
- Press Clean LinkedIn URLs and look over the duplicates and the links that can't be cleaned.
- Download the CSV, with or without the duplicate rows; linkedin_clean is the key to match people across files.
Example
- You enter
- 8 rows with a LinkedIn column: the same profile written as
linkedin.com/in/Ana-Silva-12345/and withuk.linkedin.comand?trk=, a /details/experience/ URL, a company /about/ page, a Sales Navigator lead, an lnkd.in link, a post and a Twitter link. - You get
- 4 clean URLs (two of them the same person, so 1 duplicate marked), plus 4 that can't be cleaned: Sales Navigator, short link, post and not LinkedIn. Each row gets linkedin_clean, linkedin_type, linkedin_slug, linkedin_duplicate and linkedin_note.
- Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
Why clean LinkedIn URLs?
Because the LinkedIn URL is the best key for a person across lead files: emails change and names repeat, but a profile's vanity name is unique. That only works if every file writes it the same way, and they don't: one export has linkedin.com/in/Jane-Doe/, another https://uk.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe?trk=public_profile, a third .../in/jane-doe/details/experience/. A plain dedupe treats those as three people, and Jane gets three cold emails.
Cleaned, they are one URL. Match two files on linkedin_clean, or stack them and let this tool mark the repeats, before the list goes into a sequencer or a LinkedIn automation tool.
What can't be cleaned?
Sales Navigator (/sales/lead/…) and Recruiter links use an internal ID that only opens for a signed-in seat; open the lead in Sales Navigator and copy the public profile URL. lnkd.in short links and post or activity URLs don't name a profile in the URL. Profile URLs that hold a member ID (/in/ACoAA…) instead of a vanity name still open the profile, but the same person can appear under their vanity URL elsewhere, so they're noted.
Old /pub/ profile URLs are kept and noted. Nothing is looked up: the tool doesn't open LinkedIn, so it can't tell whether a profile still exists or has been renamed.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Cold emailers
- Dedupe people across Apollo, Clay and Sales Navigator exports before they get two sequences.
- LinkedIn outreach
- Feed an automation tool clean /in/ URLs instead of tracking-laden or Sales Navigator links.
- Recruiters
- Match a candidate list against an ATS export by profile URL.
- RevOps
- Use the clean URL as a matching key when merging CRM contacts.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- It doesn't open LinkedIn, so it can't tell whether a profile exists, moved or was renamed.
- Sales Navigator, Recruiter, post and lnkd.in links are flagged, not converted.
- A member-ID URL and a vanity URL for the same person look like two people.
- It can't tell whether the email addresses on the list exist.
Common questions
- How do I remove tracking from LinkedIn URLs in Excel?
- LEFT and FIND can cut at the "?", but not the uk. subdomain, the trailing /details/ page or the case differences. Paste the column here and download linkedin_clean instead.
- Can it convert a Sales Navigator URL to a profile URL?
- No. The Sales Navigator ID can't be turned into a public URL without LinkedIn; open the lead and use View LinkedIn profile.
- Does it find people's emails from their LinkedIn URL?
- No; it only cleans the URLs. If you have a name and company domain, the email permutator lists the likely addresses to check.
- Is my list uploaded?
- No. It is read in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere, including to LinkedIn.
A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
