Export email addresses from Outlook: contacts or a mail folder to one list
In short: Reads an Outlook CSV export of contacts (E-mail, E-mail 2, E-mail 3 Address) or of a mail folder (From, To and CC addresses), skips Exchange /O= paths, removes repeats and marks each address work or personal. Limit: It can only list addresses that are in the export; it can't tell you which mailboxes still exist.
To export email addresses from Outlook, export your contacts (or a mail folder such as Sent Items) to a CSV file, then upload it here. The tool reads the E-mail, E-mail 2 and E-mail 3 columns, or the From, To and CC addresses of a mail export, skips internal Exchange paths, removes repeats and gives one address per row.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I turn an Outlook export into an email list?
- New Outlook and Outlook.com: open People, then Manage contacts, Export contacts, and save the CSV. Classic Outlook for Windows: File, Open & Export, Import/Export, Export to a file, Comma Separated Values, then pick Contacts (or Sent Items for everyone you've written to).
- Upload the CSV here (or paste it) and press Build email list.
- Tick Keep work addresses only to drop Gmail, Outlook.com, Yahoo and other personal mailboxes.
- Download the CSV with email, first_name, last_name, name, company, source_column and email_type columns, one address per row.
Example
- You enter
- An Outlook contacts CSV with 5 contacts using the E-mail Address, E-mail 2 Address and E-mail 3 Address columns; one contact's first address is an Exchange path
/O=EXCHANGELABS/…. - You get
- 6 unique addresses from the three columns. The Exchange path is skipped and counted, 1 contact has no address, and each address is marked work or personal.
- Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
How do I export my contacts from Outlook to CSV?
It depends on the version. Microsoft's help page on exporting contacts from Outlook covers each: in new Outlook and Outlook on the web, open People, then Manage contacts and Export contacts; in classic Outlook for Windows, use File, Open & Export, Import/Export, Export to a file, Comma Separated Values and choose the Contacts folder.
The CSV has up to three addresses per contact, in columns named E-mail Address, E-mail 2 Address and E-mail 3 Address, next to Type and Display Name columns. This tool reads all three address columns, ignores the Type and Display Name columns, and gives one address per row.
How do I get every email address I've sent to in Outlook?
Export the Sent Items folder, not the contacts. In classic Outlook's Export to a file wizard, choose Comma Separated Values and pick Sent Items (or Inbox for everyone who wrote to you). The CSV has From: (Address), To: (Address) and CC: (Address) columns with several addresses separated by semicolons; this tool splits them and removes repeats.
Colleagues on the same Exchange or Microsoft 365 organisation often appear as a path like /O=EXCHANGELABS/OU=…/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=… instead of an address. That is Exchange's internal X.500 address, and it can't be turned back into an email address from the file, so the tool skips it and tells you how many it skipped.
Can I export contacts from Outlook for Mac?
Outlook for Mac exports an .olm archive, not a CSV, so this tool can't read it directly. Contacts synced to an Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 account can be exported as CSV from Outlook on the web instead. Contacts saved as vCards (.vcf) can go through the VCF to CSV converter first.
Should I check an Outlook contact list before emailing it?
Yes, if it is old or you are sending to many people at once. An address book keeps every address it ever saw, including people who left their job, and Microsoft's own sender requirements for Outlook.com ask high-volume senders to keep bounces low and lists clean.
Sending to an address book is also not the same as sending to people who asked for your emails; rules such as CAN-SPAM, PECR and GDPR still apply. See why emails go to junk in Outlook for the delivery side.
Is this faster than cleaning the export in Excel?
| This tool | Excel | |
|---|---|---|
| E-mail, E-mail 2, E-mail 3 | Read together | Copy the columns under each other |
| To and CC with several addresses | Split on ; | Text to Columns, then stack |
| Exchange /O= paths | Skipped and counted | Filter out by hand |
| Duplicates | Removed | Remove Duplicates step |
In Excel 365, to stack and dedupe three columns: =UNIQUE(TOCOL(TEXTSPLIT(TEXTJOIN(";",TRUE,E2:E500,H2:H500,K2:K500),,";"),1)).
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Consultants
- Build a list of every client you've emailed from Sent Items before announcing a new service.
- Small businesses
- Move an Outlook address book into Mailchimp, Brevo or a CRM as one clean column.
- Sales reps
- Take your own correspondents with you into a CRM, with work and personal addresses split.
- Office managers
- Turn a shared mailbox's contacts into a distribution list without the Type and Display Name columns.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- It can only list addresses that are in the export; it can't tell you which mailboxes still exist.
- Exchange X.500 paths (/O=…) can't be turned into email addresses from the file and are skipped.
- It reads CSV exports, not .pst or .olm archives.
- Work or personal is decided by the domain alone, from our list of free and ISP mail providers.
- Having an address in Outlook doesn't make it lawful to add the person to marketing email.
Common questions
- How do I extract email addresses from Outlook?
- Export your contacts or a mail folder to CSV, then upload the file here. Every address column is read and you get one clean list.
- How do I export my Outlook contacts to Excel?
- Export them to a CSV file and open it in Excel. The addresses are spread over E-mail, E-mail 2 and E-mail 3 columns; this tool stacks them into one.
- How do I export the Outlook autocomplete list?
- The autocomplete list isn't exported as a CSV. Exporting Sent Items to CSV gets most of the same addresses, from the To and CC columns.
- Why do some addresses look like /O=EXCHANGELABS?
- That is an internal Exchange address for someone in the same organisation. The real email address isn't in the file, so the tool skips it.
- Does this tool upload my contacts?
- No. The file is read in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
