VCF to CSV converter (vCard to Excel)
Upload a .vcf file and this converter turns each vCard contact into one CSV row with name, company, title, every email and phone number (with their work, home or mobile labels), address, birthday and notes. It reads vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0 from iPhone, Android, Outlook and Google, and runs in your browser, so contacts are never uploaded.
Contacts with several emails or phones get numbered columns. Photos are left out.

How do I export contacts as a VCF file?
Every major phone and mail app can export contacts as a .vcf file; here is where the option lives. On an iPhone, contacts synced to iCloud can be exported from icloud.com: open Contacts, select the contacts (or all of them), and choose Export vCard. On Android, the Contacts app's settings have an Export option that saves a .vcf file. Outlook can save a contact as a vCard, and Google Contacts exports vCard as one of its formats.
A single .vcf file can hold thousands of contacts, one after another, each between BEGIN:VCARD and END:VCARD lines. This converter reads them all in one go; a file of 50,000 lines converts in about a second.
Which vCard versions does it convert?
All three in common use: 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0. vCard has three versions in common use. Version 2.1, used by older Android phones and Outlook, writes accented names in quoted-printable encoding, so J=C3=B6rg is really Jörg; the converter decodes it. Version 3.0, defined in RFC 2426, is what iPhones and Google export. Version 4.0, RFC 6350, writes phones as tel: links, which are unwrapped.
Long lines folded across several lines are joined back, escaped commas and semicolons are restored, and the structured name field is split into prefix, first, middle, last and suffix. A contact with three emails gets email_1 to email_3, each with its type. Photos and other binary data are skipped, which keeps the CSV small.
Should I clean the contacts before importing the CSV?
Yes, because address books are often years old and carry stale emails and reassigned numbers. A phone's address book is often years old. People change jobs, companies change domains and numbers get reassigned, so a share of the emails will bounce and some numbers will reach someone else. Importing them into a CRM or a sending tool carries that decay with it.
Clean the file first: remove duplicate emails left by merged accounts, format the numbers with the phone number formatter, and check the addresses before the first send. Data goes stale at a steady rate; see B2B contact data decay.
Which vCard versions do phones export?
| Version | Typical source | What the converter handles |
|---|---|---|
| 2.1 | Older Android phones, Outlook | Quoted-printable accents, bare TYPE values |
| 3.0 (RFC 2426) | iPhone, iCloud, Google Contacts | Item groups, escaped commas and semicolons |
| 4.0 (RFC 6350) | Newer apps and servers | tel: URIs, quoted TYPE lists |

What can’t this tool tell you?

- It converts what's in the file; it can't tell which emails and numbers still work.
Common questions
- How do I convert a VCF file to CSV?
- Upload the .vcf file above, choose simple columns or Google Contacts headers, and press Convert to CSV. Each contact becomes one row with name, company, emails, phones, address and notes. Download the CSV and open it in Excel or Google Sheets. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
- How do I convert VCF to Excel?
- Excel doesn't read vCard directly; opening a .vcf shows raw lines like EMAIL;TYPE=WORK:. Convert it to CSV here first, then open the CSV in Excel and save it as .xlsx. Every field gets its own column.
- How do I convert a vCard to CSV on a Mac?
- Export the contacts from the Contacts app with File, Export, Export vCard, then upload the .vcf file here in Safari or Chrome. The conversion happens in the browser, so no extra software is needed, and the CSV opens in Numbers or Excel.
- How do I convert CSV to VCF?
- That's the reverse direction, which this tool doesn't do. Google Contacts can import a CSV and then export the contacts as vCard, which is the usual free route.
- Can I convert VCF to Excel without software?
- Yes. This converter runs in your web browser with nothing to install, and the file never leaves your device. It handles vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0, including accented names and contacts with several emails or numbers.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
