EML to CSV converter: turn saved emails into a spreadsheet
In short: Drop any number of .eml files and get one CSV with a row per message: date, sender, recipients, subject, attachment names and, if you want it, the plain-text body. Nothing is uploaded. Limit: It reads .eml files only. Outlook .msg, .pst and .olm files are skipped; save messages as .eml first.
An EML to CSV converter reads saved .eml email files and writes one spreadsheet row per message. Choose your .eml files above to get a CSV with the file name, date, sender name and address, To, Cc, Reply-To, subject, attachment count and names, Message-ID and, optionally, the plain-text body. It runs in your browser, so the messages are never uploaded.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I convert EML files to a CSV spreadsheet?
- Save the messages as .eml files, for example with Save As in your mail app or More actions, Download in Outlook on the web.
- Choose all the .eml files at once. Each can be up to 50 MB; nothing is uploaded.
- Tick Add a body column if you want the text of each message, cut at 5,000 characters so Excel can open it.
- Press Convert to CSV, check the preview, then Download CSV. Copy addresses gives you every From, To and Cc address for the next step.
Example
- You enter
- Two saved .eml files: a multipart message with an encoded sender name, a Cc and a PDF attachment, and an HTML-only invoice email with a Reply-To.
- You get
- A CSV with one row per message, oldest first: file, date in UTC, from name and address, To, Cc, Reply-To, the decoded subject, 1 attachment with its file name, the Message-ID and, if ticked, the plain-text body. Copy addresses gives the 5 distinct addresses for the next step.
- Limits
- Runs in your browser; each .eml file can be up to 50 MB. Outlook .msg files are skipped.
How do I convert EML files to CSV?
Choose the files above and press Convert to CSV. Each .eml file is one email in the internet message format of RFC 5322: headers, a blank line, then the body as MIME parts (RFC 2045). The converter reads the headers, decodes encoded names and subjects (RFC 2047) and writes one row per message, oldest first.
The columns are file, date (UTC), from_name, from_email, to, cc, reply_to, subject, attachments, attachment_names, message_id and, if ticked, body. Several recipients in one cell are separated with a semicolon. The file is UTF-8 with commas, quoted as RFC 4180 describes.
Can I convert Outlook .msg files to CSV?
Not directly. A .msg file is Outlook's own binary format, not an internet message, so the converter recognises it and lists it under Files skipped instead of misreading it. Save the message as .eml instead: Outlook on the web can download a message as .eml from More actions, Download.
For a whole mailbox rather than a folder of messages, export an .mbox file and use the MBOX to CSV tool, which lists every address with message counts. To read one message with its attachments, open it in the EML viewer.
What can I do with the addresses in the CSV?
Saved messages are often from customers, suppliers or applicants you have dealt with before, which makes them a warm list, and an old one. Copy addresses collects every distinct From, To, Cc and Reply-To address. Before you write to them, run the list through the bulk email checker or sign in at the verify page for 100 free email checks, so mailboxes that have closed since don't bounce.
Having someone's address in your mail isn't consent to market to them. Check the rules that apply to you, such as the FTC's CAN-SPAM guide, before a campaign.
Is this the same as MBOX to CSV?
| EML to CSV | MBOX to CSV | |
|---|---|---|
| Input | Many single .eml messages | One .mbox mailbox export (or .eml files) |
| Output | One row per message: date, people, subject, attachments, body | One row per address: name, message counts, first and last seen |
| Best for | Logging a folder of messages in a spreadsheet | Building a contact list from a whole mailbox |
| Where the mail goes | Stays in your browser | Stays in your browser |
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Operations and finance teams
- Log a folder of saved invoices, orders or supplier emails in a spreadsheet, with dates, senders and attachment names.
- Recruiters
- Turn saved application emails into a sheet of candidates with the date each one wrote in.
- Legal and compliance
- List a set of exported messages by date, sender, recipients and Message-ID before a review.
- Small businesses
- Pull the customers you've emailed with out of saved messages, then verify the list before a re-engagement send.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- It reads .eml files only. Outlook .msg, .pst and .olm files are skipped; save messages as .eml first.
- The body column is plain text cut at 5,000 characters; formatting, images and attachments themselves aren't included.
- Dates are converted to UTC from each message's Date header; a message with a missing or broken Date header has an empty date.
- It lists addresses as they appear in the headers. It can't tell you whether a mailbox still exists.
- Very large folders are limited by your browser's memory; split thousands of large messages into a few runs.
Common questions
- How do I export EML files to Excel?
- Convert them to CSV here, then open the CSV in Excel. Choose all the .eml files at once and press Convert to CSV; you get one row per message with date, sender, recipients, subject and attachments, in a UTF-8 file Excel opens directly.
- Can I convert multiple EML files to one CSV?
- Yes. Select as many .eml files as you like in the file picker; they become one CSV with one row per message, sorted oldest first, and a file column that says which .eml each row came from.
- Does the CSV include the email body?
- Only if you tick Add a body column. The body is the plain-text part, or the HTML part with the tags removed when there is no plain text, cut at 5,000 characters per message so every cell fits in Excel.
- Does it work with .msg files?
- No. Outlook .msg is a binary format; those files are listed as skipped. Save the messages as .eml first, for example by downloading them from Outlook on the web.
- Are my emails uploaded?
- No. The files are read by your browser and the CSV is built on your device. Nothing is sent to SimpleVerifier unless you choose to verify the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
