Brevo contacts to email list: blocklisted set aside, repeats merged
In short: Reads a Brevo contacts export (comma or semicolon separated), sets aside contacts marked blocklisted or unsubscribed, reads FIRSTNAME/LASTNAME or PRENOM/NOM, merges repeats and keeps phone and lists. Limit: Brevo's export column names depend on your attributes and account language and aren't documented as a fixed set; the blocklist and status headings here are inferred, so check the notes.
In Brevo, open CRM > Contacts, select all contacts, choose More actions > Export, keep EMAIL and pick the attributes you need, then download the file from the bell notification. Upload it here: a blocklist column (yes = opted out) or a subscription status column is read, blocklisted contacts are set aside, repeats merge, and you download an import-ready list.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

How do I check the Brevo list before the next campaign?
- Download the email list here.
- Upload it at /verify. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files. The first 100 email checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card.
- Import the valid file into Brevo or the next platform, and the set-aside file as a suppression list.
How do I turn a Brevo contacts export into a clean email list?
- In Brevo, go to CRM > Contacts. Load a list or segment if you only want part of it.
- Tick the checkbox in the contact column, click Select all contacts, then More actions > Export.
- Keep EMAIL selected, add first name, last name and any blocklist or subscription attribute shown, pick a separator and start the export.
- Download the file from the bell-icon notification and upload it here. Download the email list and the set-aside file.
Example
- You enter
- A semicolon-separated Brevo export with 6 rows:
EMAIL;FIRSTNAME;LASTNAME;SMS;EMAIL_BLACKLISTED;LISTS, Leo twice (once blocklistedYes, onceNo, in capitals). - You get
- 4 in the email list with their lists, and Leo set aside: the blocklisted copy wins over the other. The notes say opt-outs were read from the
EMAIL_BLACKLISTEDcolumn. - Limits
- Runs in your browser with no row cap; an uploaded file can be up to 25 MB.
What does blocklisted mean in Brevo?
Brevo blocklists a contact for email when they unsubscribe, when an address hard-bounces or when you add them by hand. A blocklisted contact stays in your account but isn't sent campaigns. When the list moves anywhere else, those addresses belong in the suppression list, not the send list.
Exports name attributes in your account's language and casing (EMAIL, FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME, or PRENOM and NOM on French accounts), so this tool finds columns by name. A blocklist column is read the other way round from a subscription column: yes means opted out. The notes above the result name the column used.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Senders whose campaigns were paused
- Rebuild a clean list after Brevo's review, with blocklisted contacts kept apart.
- Teams leaving Sendinblue/Brevo
- Move subscribers to another platform without re-adding opt-outs.
- Shops on Brevo
- Pull customers and their SMS numbers for a separate campaign tool.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- Brevo's export column names depend on your attributes and account language and aren't documented as a fixed set; the blocklist and status headings here are inferred, so check the notes.
- A contact unsubscribed from one list but not blocklisted is not detected unless the file says so.
- It can't tell which addresses still have a working inbox.
Common questions
- Does it work with semicolon files?
- Yes. Brevo lets you pick the separator; comma and semicolon files are both read.
- What if my export has no blocklist column?
- Then consent can't be read and every contact is kept, which the notes say. Filter to subscribed contacts in Brevo before exporting, or export the blocklisted contacts separately for your suppression list.
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. It is read in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to check the addresses afterwards.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
