MX record generator: the exact MX rows for your mail provider and DNS host
In short: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Titan, Hostinger, Proton, Fastmail and iCloud MX records written in the fields Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, Hostinger, Squarespace, Porkbun, Route 53 or a zone file use, then a live check. Limit: MX only. For SPF, DKIM and DMARC as well, use the Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 records tool or the SPF and DMARC generators.
An MX record generator gives you the exact MX records your mail provider needs, written the way your DNS host's form asks for them. Google Workspace needs one record, smtp.google.com with priority 1; Zoho needs three; Route 53 wants priority and host in one value. Add them, delete the old provider's MX rows, then check the live records match.
Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing
In Cloudflare: DNS > Records > Add record, type MX. Add this record:
| Type | Name | Priority | Mail server |
|---|---|---|---|
| MX | @ | 1 | smtp.google.com |
MX records can't be proxied; there is no orange cloud on them. Leave TTL on Auto. Delete any MX rows from a previous provider.
Values from Google Workspace's setup guide. MX only; for SPF, DKIM and DMARC too, use the Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 records tool.

Mail set up. How do I check my contact list before the first campaign?
- Export your contacts or leads as a CSV.
- Upload them on the verify page; the first checks are free.
- Send to the valid rows so the new domain starts with a low bounce rate.
How do I set up MX records for my domain?

- Add the rows shown, using the field names your DNS host's form uses. Copy the values or the zone-file lines.
- Delete any MX rows left from a previous provider or the registrar's own email.
- Press Check my live MX records. Missing and leftover records are listed; changes can take until the old TTL to show.

What MX records do I need for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Zoho?
Google Workspace: one record, host @, priority 1, value smtp.google.com, per Google's MX setup guide; domains set up before 2023 may use the older five aspmx records, which still work. Microsoft 365: one record, usually yourdomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com with priority 0, but copy the exact value from the admin center. Zoho: mx.zoho.com, mx2.zoho.com and mx3.zoho.com at 10, 20 and 50, or the zoho.eu hosts on the EU data centre.
Titan uses mx1.titan.email and mx2.titan.email; Hostinger Email mx1.hostinger.com and mx2.hostinger.com; Proton mail.protonmail.ch and mailsec.protonmail.ch.
How do I add an MX record in Namecheap, Cloudflare or GoDaddy?
Namecheap: Advanced DNS, set Mail Settings to Custom MX, then add each row with Host @, Value and Priority. Cloudflare: DNS, Records, Add record, type MX, Name @, Mail server and Priority; MX records can't be proxied. GoDaddy: DNS Records, Add New Record, type MX, Name @, Value and Priority.
Route 53 is the exception: one record holds every server, one per line, as priority host. Entering only the host gives the error "MX record doesn't have 2 fields", which the email DNS error checker explains.
What does MX priority mean?
Senders try the lowest number first and fall back to higher ones, as RFC 5321 sets out. Only the order matters: 1, 5, 10 works the same as 10, 20, 30. Records with the same number share the load.
Which DNS hosts want the MX value in a different format?
| DNS host | Name for the root | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Hostinger | @ | Own field |
| Namecheap | @ (Custom MX mode) | Own field |
| Porkbun | Leave blank | Own field |
| Route 53 | Leave blank | Same value: 1 smtp.google.com |
| Zone file | @ | Same line, host with a trailing dot |
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Small businesses
- Move a domain's email to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 without guessing which field the value goes in.
- Cold emailers
- Set up MX on a batch of new sending domains consistently, then confirm each one live.
- Agencies and MSPs
- Hand a client the exact rows for their DNS host and check the result in the same place.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- MX only. For SPF, DKIM and DMARC as well, use the Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 records tool or the SPF and DMARC generators.
- Microsoft 365's value is account-specific; the usual form is shown, but the admin center's value wins.
- DNS hosts change their forms; the field names are current as of the update date shown.
- The live check reads public DNS, which can lag your change until the old TTL expires.
Common questions
- What is the MX record for Google Workspace?
- One record: host @, priority 1, value smtp.google.com. Remove every other MX record.
- How do I add an MX record in Namecheap?
- Domain List, Manage, Advanced DNS, set Mail Settings to Custom MX, then add each MX with Host @, Value and Priority.
- What is the MX record for Office 365?
- Usually yourdomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com with priority 0. Copy the exact value from the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- How long do MX records take to update?
- Usually minutes, but resolvers can keep the old record until its TTL runs out, often an hour and at most a day or two.
- Can I have two mail providers in MX?
- Not usefully: senders deliver to the lowest priority they can reach, so mail splits unpredictably. Keep one provider's records.
