Shopify email list checker: clean a customer export before you email it
To clean Shopify customer emails, export the customers as a CSV and drop it here. The checker flags bad syntax, duplicates, typo domains such as gmial.com, domains with no mail server and disposable addresses, and takes off anyone on your unsubscribed list. It reads the Email column; only the domains are looked up, never the addresses.
Any address here is taken off the clean list, including the same Gmail inbox written another way.

How do I check my Shopify customer email list?
- In Shopify admin, open Customers and click Export. Choose all customers, or a segment, and download the CSV.
- Drop the file in. The Email column is found automatically. Customers with a blank Email are skipped.
- Optional: paste an unsubscribed or bounced contacts list into the remove box.
- Press Check the customers, then download the clean list and the flagged rows.
- The checks here use no mail server. Sign in with Google to check which mailboxes exist with the free email checks.
How do I export customers from Shopify?
In your Shopify admin, open Customers and click Export. You can export the current page, all customers, selected customers or a segment, and pick a CSV format for spreadsheets or a plain CSV (Shopify's import and export guide). Shopify says exports are limited to 15 MB, and exports of more than 50 customers are emailed to you rather than downloaded in the browser.
The file has an Email column, which Shopify notes is required but can be blank, so some rows have no address at all. Exporting a segment of customers who accept email marketing keeps people who never agreed to marketing out of the file.
Why check a Shopify customer list at all?
Store checkouts take whatever is typed. Typos such as gmial.com, throwaway addresses used to get a discount code, and the same Gmail inbox entered with different dots all end up as customers. Receipts to those addresses go nowhere, and a marketing campaign to a list full of them bounces. Our guide to fake customer accounts on Shopify explains where they come from.
This page removes what can be found without asking a mail server. For mailboxes that were typed correctly but don't exist, check them with the free email checks.
Can I clean addresses at checkout instead?
A form-level check stops new bad addresses, but not the ones already in your customer list. Do both: clean the export now, and add a typo prompt and a disposable-address block where customers enter their email. Stop fake signups lists what works.
Who uses this tool, and for what?
- Store owners
- Check the customer file before the first newsletter or sale announcement.
- Agencies
- Clean a client's customers before moving them to an email platform.
- Lifecycle marketers
- Remove dead and duplicate addresses before building segments.
What can’t this tool tell you?
- It reads an exported file. It does not connect to your store or change anything in Shopify.
- The browser check covers the first 5,000 rows. The free checks take the whole file.
- It does not look at marketing consent. Use Shopify's own marketing status for that.
- No mailbox check runs on this page. A clean file can still contain addresses that don't exist.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.
Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.
- Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
- A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
