What each type means for the caller

Toll-free: 800
Free to the caller, usually only from inside the country; the business that owns the number pays for the call. 9 digits after +420.
Premium rate: 900, 905, 906, 908, 909 or 976
Charged above a normal call at a rate set by the service, with part of the charge going to the service provider. 9 digits after +420.
Shared cost: 81, 83 or 84
The caller pays part of the cost and the owner pays the rest, so the price sits between a free and a normal call. 9 digits after +420.
Universal access (UAN): 95 or 972–974
One national number for a business with several sites, routed to the nearest or chosen office. 9 digits after +420.
Personal number: 700 or 701
A follow-me number that forwards to whatever phone its owner chooses, so the digits don't reveal the line behind it. 9 digits after +420.
VoIP: 910 or 970
Numbers issued for internet telephony services rather than a fixed line or a mobile network. 9 digits after +420.

Writing and dialling a Czech Republic toll-free number

Czech Republic has no trunk prefix, so the number is the same at home and abroad; in E.164 put +420 in front: 800 123 456 becomes +420800123456. Many freephone numbers still only accept calls from inside the Czech Republic, and a call from abroad that does connect is usually charged.

Toll-free and premium numbers in a phone list

In a lead or customer list, a toll-free number usually reaches a company line rather than a person, and a premium-rate number costs you money to call. The free toll-free number checker flags them in a pasted list or CSV, and the Czech Republic phone number format page covers mobiles and landlines.

Next step

A prefix says what a range is for. A live lookup says what the line is now.

Pro + Phone is $49.99 a month (or $499.90 a year): upload a CSV and every number gets a live line-type and carrier lookup, with the emails in the same file checked too.

Common questions

What is the toll-free prefix in the Czech Republic?
Czech Republic toll-free numbers start with 800 after +420. Every valid toll-free number starts that way, though not every number with those digits is in service.
How many digits is a Czech Republic toll-free number?
9 digits after the country code +420.
Can I call a Czech Republic toll-free number from abroad?
Sometimes. Dial +420 and the number. Many freephone numbers only take calls from inside the Czech Republic, and where they do connect from abroad the call is usually charged.
How do I spot a premium-rate number in the Czech Republic?
By its first digits: 900, 905, 906, 908, 909 or 976. Shared-cost numbers start with 81, 83 or 84. The prefix tells you the range is charged; the actual price is set per service.

The numbering plan only knows what a range was issued for.

In the US and Canada mobiles and landlines share the same prefixes, and anywhere a number can be ported or reassigned the range stops telling the whole story. A live carrier lookup asks the network data instead, which is what Pro + Phone ($49.99/mo) adds.

  • 5,000 live carrier lookups a month: real line type, including US numbers
  • Carrier name for every number looked up
  • Upload a CSV up to 100,000 rows; emails in the same file get a mailbox check
