Yahoo Email Domains: ymail.com, rocketmail.com, AOL and the ISPs on Yahoo

Yahoo Mail receives mail for far more than yahoo.com. It also covers ymail.com, rocketmail.com, dozens of country domains (yahoo.co.uk, yahoo.fr…), AOL, and a set of ISP addresses such as att.net, sbcglobal.net and verizon.net. All of them are personal addresses, and all of them are subject to Yahoo's filtering. But they're separate address spaces: jane@ymail.com isn't jane@yahoo.com.

Yahoo's own domains

Domain	What it is	MX on 11 Oct 2026
yahoo.com	Main domain	mta5/mta6.am0.yahoodns.net
ymail.com	Alternative domain offered from 2008	mta5.am0.yahoodns.net
rocketmail.com	Older acquired domain, reused by Yahoo	mta5.am0.yahoodns.net
yahoo.co.uk	UK country domain	mx-eu.mail.am0.yahoodns.net

There are many more country variants (yahoo.fr, yahoo.de, yahoo.es, yahoo.com.au, yahoo.co.in, yahoo.com.br and others), all personal.

Domains Yahoo runs for others

Several ISPs hand their customer email to Yahoo. The address keeps the ISP's name, but the MX record, which decides who receives the mail, points at Yahoo:

Domain	Owner	Mail received by
aol.com	AOL (same parent company as Yahoo)	mx-aol.mail.gm0.yahoodns.net
att.net, sbcglobal.net	AT&T customers	Yahoo
verizon.net	Former Verizon email customers	Yahoo
cox.net	Former Cox email customers	Yahoo
rogers.com	Rogers (Canada) customers	Yahoo
sky.com	Sky (UK) customers	Yahoo

We recorded the ISP mappings in our free email providers list, which you can download as CSV. You can see Yahoo's own setup live on the yahoo.com domain page and AOL's on aol.com.

What this means for your list

All of them are personal addresses

A "work email only" filter that stops at yahoo.com lets through ymail.com, rocketmail.com, every country domain and every ISP address. Use a full list of consumer domains. More on drawing the line in business email vs personal email.

They share Yahoo's rules

Mail to every domain in these tables is filtered by Yahoo. That includes the bulk sender requirements Yahoo introduced alongside Google in 2024: authentication, one-click unsubscribe and low complaint rates. A list that looks diverse can be heavily Yahoo-weighted once you count att.net and AOL. See Gmail and Yahoo bulk sender requirements.

Don't merge across domains

Unlike googlemail.com and gmail.com (one inbox, explained in googlemail.com vs gmail.com), Yahoo's domains are separate accounts. Deduplicate on the full address.

Typos are common

yaho.com, yahooo.com, yhoo.com, yahho.com and yahoo.co all show up in real signup data and all fail. Our free list health check flags these on every row and suggests the correction.

Verifying Yahoo addresses

Yahoo is one of the harder providers to verify. Its documented error for a missing user is a code SMTP reserves for after a message is sent, so a check that stops before sending may never see the rejection. Our guide on verifying Yahoo email addresses explains how Yahoo responds and what a verifier has to do differently. The same applies to the ISP and AOL domains, because the same servers answer.

To see how a list holds up before you send, drop it into the free list health check: exact counts of typos, duplicates, disposable and dead domains on every row. The paid plan checks every address and separates out the ones a server won't confirm.
