How to Export Email Addresses From Google Contacts Into One Clean List
To export email addresses from Google Contacts, open contacts.google.com, choose Export, pick a label or all contacts, select Google CSV and download contacts.csv. The addresses are spread across several columns (E-mail 1 - Value, E-mail 2 - Value) and some cells hold more than one address joined with :::, so stack them into one column, remove repeats, and check the list before you mail it.
The free Google Contacts to email list tool does the stacking, splitting and de-duplicating in your browser and labels each address work or personal.
Step 1: export from Google Contacts
- Open contacts.google.com and choose Export in the left menu (or select contacts, then More actions > Export).
- Pick all contacts, a label, or the contacts you selected.
- Choose Google CSV and press Export.
Google's help page on exporting contacts lists three formats: Google CSV, Outlook CSV and vCard. Google CSV keeps labels such as Work and Home. A vCard file can go through the VCF to CSV converter first.
People you've emailed but never saved sit under Other contacts in the left menu. Those rows often have an address and nothing else.
Step 2: turn the columns into one list
The file has one row per contact, with addresses in E-mail 1 - Value, E-mail 2 - Value and so on, plus matching Label columns. A contact with two work addresses can have both in one cell, separated by :::. Opening that in Excel gives you dozens of columns and no single list.
Upload contacts.csv to the tool and you get one address per row with name, company, the label and a work or personal type. Tick Keep work addresses only to drop Gmail, Outlook and other personal mailboxes.
Step 3: remove repeats
The same address often sits on more than one contact. The tool lowercases addresses and keeps the first one. Gmail ignores dots before the @, so [email protected] and [email protected] reach one inbox; the Gmail address normalizer merges those too. Our post on Gmail dots and plus duplicates explains why.
Step 4: check before a mail merge
Address books keep every address they ever saw, including people who changed jobs. Bounces from a Gmail or Workspace mail merge count against your own account.
- Download the list from the tool.
- Upload it on the verify page. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files.
- Merge only the valid file. Our guide to verifying before a Gmail mail merge covers the merge itself.
Gmail's own limits apply too. Google's help page says personal Gmail accounts hit the limit at more than 500 emails a day; see Gmail sending limits.
Step 5: respect the rules
An address book isn't a list anyone signed up for. Google's sender guidelines ask bulk senders to authenticate their domain, keep spam complaints low and offer one-click unsubscribe, and laws such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR still apply; see the GDPR and B2B cold email guide. For a larger list you check every month, the free email list verifier page explains what's free and what's paid.
Where SimpleVerifier fits
Turning contacts.csv into a list is free and runs in your browser. For the mailbox check, the first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in, no card. Starter is $9 a month for 2,500 checks; Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off. See pricing.
Common questions
How do I export email addresses from Google Contacts?
Open contacts.google.com, choose Export, pick the contacts or label, choose Google CSV and press Export. A file named contacts.csv downloads with the addresses in E-mail Value columns.
How do I get a list of all email addresses in Gmail?
Gmail's saved contacts live in Google Contacts; export them as Google CSV. People you emailed but never saved are under Other contacts in the left menu.
Can I export only one label from Google Contacts?
Yes. In the Export dialog, choose the label instead of all contacts, or select contacts first and export only those.
Why does my Google Contacts export have duplicate emails?
The same address can sit on more than one contact: an old card and a new one, a contact synced from a phone, or one saved twice. Lowercase the addresses and remove repeats.
Can I mass email my Google contacts from Gmail?
Gmail limits how many recipients you can send to in a day, and Google's sender guidelines ask bulk senders to authenticate, keep complaints low and offer one-click unsubscribe. For more than a handful of people, use a platform that handles unsubscribes, and remember an address book isn't a mailing list anyone signed up for.
Check your list before you send
Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
