Is Kickbox Legit? Who Owns It, Prices and the Expiry Catch (November 2026)

··3 min read

Yes, Kickbox is legit. It's run by J2 Martech Corp, which its own footer calls "a Ziff Davis company", and it publishes a full price ladder from 500 checks for $5 to a million for $2,999. Unknown results are refunded as credits. The main catch is that credits expire one year after purchase, and per address it costs more than the budget verifiers.

Belonging to a large listed group is a strong legitimacy signal, and it usually means a vendor can provide a DPA, security documentation and a named contracting entity without fuss.

What it costs

Pack Price Per 1,000
500 $5 $10.00
1,000 $10 $10.00
5,000 $40 $8.00
10,000 $70 $7.00
50,000 $275 $5.50
100,000 $500 $5.00
250,000 $1,100 $4.40
500,000 $1,800 $3.60
1,000,000 $2,999 $3.00

Kickbox's small packs are handy: 500 for $5 is one of the lowest minimum purchases around. At volume it's among the pricier verifiers; a million costs $2,999 here against $449 to $750 at the cheapest published vendors in our pricing index. Head-to-heads: Kickbox vs Bouncer and ZeroBounce vs Kickbox.

The catches

  1. Credits expire after a year. A big pack bought for a discount has to be used inside 12 months.
  2. Per-address cost at scale. Fine for small lists; expensive for one-off cleans of hundreds of thousands.
  3. No flat plan. Every pass over a list is billed again.

Who it suits

  • Teams that verify a few hundred or a few thousand addresses at a time and want a tiny minimum purchase.
  • Companies whose vendor review prefers a supplier inside a large, listed group.
  • Senders who value Kickbox's deliverability content and advice alongside the checks.

Before you buy anywhere, estimate how bad the list is: the email list bounce rate estimator gives a range from the problems visible in the addresses and their domains (bad syntax, dead domains, typos, disposable and role addresses), and our bench test guide shows how to compare two verifiers on your own data.

Where SimpleVerifier fits

For a few hundred addresses, Kickbox's $5 pack is cheaper than us. For regular large lists, Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off, and our one-time packs never expire. The first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in at /verify. See pricing and the Kickbox alternatives roundup.
