ZeroBounce Alternatives for Small Lists: What 1,000 to 10,000 Checks Cost
If you only need to verify a small list, ZeroBounce's minimum pay-as-you-go purchase of 2,000 credits for $39 is more than several alternatives charge for 5,000 or even 10,000 checks. For a one-off list under 10,000, EmailListVerify, DeBounce, Bouncer and SimpleVerifier's packs all cost less in the published prices we checked.
ZeroBounce is a mature product with many extra features, so this is not an argument that it is bad. It is about whether you need to pay its prices for a small, occasional job.
What ZeroBounce charges for small volumes
From the ZeroBounce pricing page, checked 21 October 2026:
- Free: 100 validation credits a month.
- Pay as you go: minimum purchase 2,000 credits for $39. Larger packs include 5,000 for $69 and 10,000 for $129.
- ZeroBounce ONE subscription: from $99 a month, with a minimum of 10,000 credits a month.
So a 3,000-row list costs $69 if you buy the next pack up, or about $2.30 to $1.95 per 100 addresses depending on pack size.

How to choose between them
Price is easy to compare. These are the things that actually change your result:
- Catch-all handling. On B2B lists, many company domains accept every address. Does the tool label these clearly as catch-all, or fold them into valid or unknown? You need them separate to decide whether to send.
- Unknown rate. A tool that returns many unknowns is cheap per credit but leaves you with work. Some vendors refund or do not charge unknowns; ask.
- Duplicate charging. If your file has repeats, are they charged once or every time? SimpleVerifier does not charge for duplicates or for addresses we cannot check.
- Export options. Being able to download valid, risky and invalid as separate files saves mistakes.
- Credit expiry. If you verify irregularly, non-expiring credits are worth more.
The fair way to choose is a side-by-side test: take the same 200 to 500 addresses from your own list and run them through two tools. How to bench test email verifiers explains how to compare results without fooling yourself.
When ZeroBounce is still worth it
Stay with ZeroBounce if you use more than verification: it sells extras such as activity data, inbox placement and other tools that the budget verifiers do not offer. If those matter to you, the per-credit premium buys something. Our ZeroBounce comparison page lists what it does better.
When a small list grows
Small lists rarely stay small. If you start adding leads every week, re-checking older contacts before campaigns, or cleaning lists for clients, per-credit costs add up. At that point a flat monthly plan is usually cheaper; see unlimited verification vs credits for the break-even maths, or run your volume through the verification cost calculator.
A small-list routine that keeps costs low
- Clean and dedupe for free first.
- Verify only the rows you will actually send to this month.
- Keep results with a date, and do not re-verify recent valid addresses unnecessarily.
- Re-check anything older than about three months before reusing it.
Before you buy anything
Do the free cleanup first. Remove duplicates with the duplicate email remover, drop role addresses you will not email with the role-based email filter, and you will often cut a few percent off the number of credits you need.
Then test us on your actual data: you get 100 free email checks when you sign in with Google, no card. Upload a sample on the verify page and compare the results with whichever tool you are using now.
Common questions
What is a lower-cost way to verify a small list than ZeroBounce?
In the published prices we checked in October 2026, EmailListVerify charged $17 for 5,000 and $27 for 10,000, and DeBounce charged $15 for 5,000 and $25 for 10,000. Prices change, so check each vendor's pricing page before buying.
Does ZeroBounce have a free plan?
Yes. ZeroBounce's pricing page lists a free plan with 100 validation credits that refill monthly, checked 21 October 2026.
Are cheaper verifiers less accurate?
Price alone does not tell you. Every verifier runs similar SMTP checks; differences show up in how they handle catch-all domains, greylisting and unknowns. Test two tools on the same sample of your own list and compare the results before committing.
Do small credit packs expire?
It depends on the vendor. NeverBounce states its pay-as-you-go credits expire 12 months after purchase. Bouncer, DeBounce, EmailListVerify and SimpleVerifier packs do not expire, according to their pricing pages.
Check your list before you send
Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
