Export Patreon Members to a Clean Email List (and What the Statuses Mean)

··3 min read

Export from Creator studio > Audience (the Relationship Manager): filter to who you want, then download the CSV. Split the file by status, drop rows without an email, remove duplicates, and check the addresses before uploading to Mailchimp or another tool. Patreon sends your posts to members itself; a separate email list is for what Patreon doesn't send.

Source: Patreon's help centre, Exporting your audience's emails from Patreon and How to use your Relationship manager, both updated 8 October 2026 and read 3 November.

Step 1: export

  1. On desktop, select Creator studio in the left menu, then Audience. You land on the Relationship Manager.
  2. Filter. Quick filters are Paid members, Free members, Active, Canceled, Payment declined and New this month; the Filters button adds tier, join date, lifetime amount and more.
  3. Choose columns with the table settings icon.
  4. Click the download button. Patreon says there's "no need to select the contacts in the checkbox. The CSV file will show all the contacts in criteria you filtered."

If you offer annual memberships, the file gets a Charge frequency column.

Step 2: understand the statuses

Status (Patreon's definition, summarised) For an email list
Active payment: paid or scheduled to be billed Current members
Retrying payment / Payment failed: charge declined; after about 30 days of failed payment the member becomes free Payment messages only, from Patreon. Hold back marketing
Canceled: shown from the date access expires, not the date they cancelled Former members
Refunded: the most recent charge was refunded Check before mailing
Fraud: the charge was declined as fraudulent Leave out
Free member: not paying, sees public and free posts Separate segment

The Patreon members to email list tool sorts a member CSV into active, declined, free and former in your browser, with tier and lifetime amount kept.

Step 3: handle missing emails

Patreon says in the Relationship Manager guide that "fans can opt out of sharing their email address with creators — if you're not seeing a fan's email address, they may have chosen not to share it." Drop those rows. Don't match them to addresses from elsewhere; they told the platform not to share it.

Step 4: clean before uploading

  1. Remove duplicates. A fan who left and rejoined, or joined on two tiers, can appear more than once. Use the duplicate email remover.
  2. Subtract your unsubscribes from the destination tool with compare email lists, so an import doesn't resubscribe someone.
  3. Verify the addresses. Patron accounts can be years old; addresses go dead. How often to verify an email list covers the timing.

Patreon notes Mailchimp no longer supports its integration, so this export-and-upload is how most creators keep a list current. Re-run the steps each time rather than appending the new export to the old one.

Limits

The export is a snapshot; statuses change on the 1st with billing. Lifetime amounts may update late, Patreon says. A verification result tells you whether an address can receive mail, not whether the member agreed to email from another tool; that depends on what you told them when they joined and where they live. See re-permission email consent.

Where SimpleVerifier fits

Upload the cleaned CSV at /verify and you get valid, risky (with the reason) and invalid files, with tier and status columns kept. The first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in. Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off, and one-time packs of 10,000 checks for $15 never expire. See pricing.

Common questions

How do I export my Patreon members' emails?

On desktop, open Creator studio, then Audience, which is the Relationship Manager. Set the filters you want and click the download button. The CSV contains all contacts matching those filters.

Why are some Patreon members' emails missing?

Patreon says fans can opt out of sharing their email address with creators. If you don't see an address, they may have chosen not to share it.

Should I email canceled or former patrons?

Only if what they agreed to when joining covers email after they leave, and where they are allows it. Many creators keep former members in a separate list and send them far less, or nothing.

Does Patreon still connect to Mailchimp?

Patreon's help centre says Mailchimp no longer supports the integration. To keep a Mailchimp list current, filter and download from the Relationship Manager and upload the file to Mailchimp.

Check your list before you send

Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
