Export Gumroad Customers and Subscribers to a Clean Email List
Download two files from Gumroad: the sales CSV (customers and their purchases) and the subscribers CSV (followers). Fold the sales rows into one row per buyer, set aside refunded buyers and anyone who unsubscribed, merge the followers in, then check the addresses before the first send from any other tool.
Source: Gumroad's help centre, The sales dashboard and Starting an email newsletter, read 3 November 2026.
Step 1: export the sales CSV
Gumroad says that "at any time, you can download a CSV file of your customers and their purchases within a selected date range". If the file isn't ready straight away, it's emailed to you. Two things to know:
- Pick the full date range. The export covers all sales in the range, or one product if you choose.
- Page filters don't carry over. Gumroad notes that "any filters you applied to this page will not apply to the export". Filtering for active customers on screen doesn't filter the file.
The file is one row per purchase, so a buyer of three products appears three times, sometimes with a gift recipient's address in a separate column.
Step 2: export the subscribers CSV
On the Subscribers dashboard in Audience, click the Export icon next to the date range menu. The CSV "will contain the followers' email addresses and the date that they began following". Gumroad says subscribers "may or may not be your customers yet", so this list overlaps the sales one only partly.
Step 3: one row per person
- Fold the sales rows by buyer. The Gumroad customers to email list tool does this in your browser: one row per buyer with products, purchase count and spend, refunded and disputed sales left out of the spend.
- Set aside fully refunded buyers. Gumroad's own definition of an active customer is "someone who is not refunded and has not unsubscribed from the product".
- Decide on gift recipients. They never bought anything; leave them out unless you have a reason to include them.
- Merge the subscribers file and remove duplicates with the duplicate email remover. Keep a source column (buyer, follower, both).
Step 4: carry over unsubscribes
Gumroad tracks whether each customer receives your emails (you can see and set it in the customer drawer). Posts and workflow emails only go to subscribed customers, and receipts are the only thing you can resend to someone who unsubscribed. Those people shouldn't start getting marketing from your new tool. Build a suppression file and subtract it with compare email lists.
Step 5: check the addresses
Buyers type their own address at checkout, so typos (gmial.com) and old addresses get through. Gumroad lets you correct a customer's email by hand in the customer drawer, which tells you it happens. Before importing elsewhere:
- Run the email typo corrector for the obvious domain typos.
- Verify the list so dead addresses don't count against your bounce rate on the first send in a new tool. How to clean an email list covers the order.
Limits
The sales CSV's spend columns depend on the export; partial refunds and fees may need care. A verification result tells you whether an address can receive mail, not whether the person agreed to marketing; that comes from your checkout wording. The tool page links the FTC's CAN-SPAM guide and the ICO's PECR guidance.
Where SimpleVerifier fits
Upload the merged file at /verify and you get valid, risky (with the reason) and invalid files, with your columns kept. The first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in. Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off, and one-time packs of 10,000 checks for $15 never expire. See pricing.
Common questions
How do I export my Gumroad customers?
From the Sales dashboard, download the sales CSV for a date range. Gumroad says that if the file isn't ready immediately, it will be emailed to you, and that filters on the page don't apply to the export.
How do I export my Gumroad subscribers?
On the Subscribers dashboard in Audience, click the Export icon next to the date range menu. The CSV contains the followers' email addresses and the date they began following you.
Should I include buyers who unsubscribed on Gumroad?
Not in marketing email. On Gumroad, posts and workflow emails only go to customers subscribed to your emails; if someone isn't, carry that over as a suppression rather than mailing them from a new tool.
Can I email Gumroad buyers about a new product?
A purchase covers receipts and updates about what they bought. Promoting other products depends on what your checkout asked and where your buyers are; check CAN-SPAM in the US and PECR in the UK.
Check your list before you send
Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
