How to Export Mighty Networks Members to an Email List
To get an email list from Mighty Networks, download the member list from Admin, leave out members who have opted out of commercial emails, and keep one row per member with an address. The path is Admin > Members > Member List > Download; Mighty emails you a link to the file. Members on several plans appear more than once, so merge them, then check the addresses before the first send from another email tool.
The free Mighty Networks members to email list tool reads the .xlsx in your browser and merges the rows. Here is each step.
Step 1: download the member list
Mighty Networks' help article Can I download my member data? (read 2 November 2026) gives the steps:
- In your network, go to Admin > Members > Member List.
- Click Download.
- Accept the Terms of Use prompt.
- Open the email Mighty Networks sends and download the file.
For the members of one paid plan, go to Admin > Plans & Access > Plan List and use the three-dot menu on the plan. Mighty Networks also says full member data, including email addresses, depends on your plan; on a plan without it, members come without addresses.
Step 2: know what's in the file
The help article lists member ID, name, email, dates, plan and subscription details, Spaces, Ambassador level, referrals, tags, badges and answers to profile questions. It also describes an opt-out column: "If this column has a "Yes" in it then that means that the member has opted out of receiving commercial emails."
Exact header names aren't fully documented, including the opt-out column's, so open the file and find it before filtering. Don't confuse it with Notification Method or Email Frequency: those are how the member hears about activity inside the network, not consent to marketing.
| Opt-out column | For a marketing email from another tool |
|---|---|
| Yes | Don't send. Add to your email tool's suppression list |
| No or blank | No opt-out on record. Still check what members agreed to when they joined |
The safest order is to filter on the opt-out column in a spreadsheet first: delete the Yes rows (and save them as your suppression file), then run the rest through the Mighty Networks tool, whose notes say which columns it read.
Step 3: apply consent
Mighty's notifications are part of membership. A newsletter or launch sequence from Kit, Mailchimp or another platform is marketing, and the rules for it depend on where your members are. The FTC's CAN-SPAM guide covers US commercial email; UK, EU and Canadian rules expect consent first. Every message needs an opt-out and your postal address; our post on what a CAN-SPAM footer needs lists the items.
Step 4: merge members on several plans
A member on a free plan and a paid course is listed once per plan. Keep one row per address and combine the plans into one labels column, so you can rebuild "paid" and "free" segments in the next tool. An opt-out on any copy wins.
Step 5: check the addresses
Free networks collect throwaway sign-ups, and members who joined years ago may have abandoned that inbox. A first campaign that bounces hard counts against your sending domain.
- Download the merged list from the Mighty Networks tool.
- Upload it on the verify page. Every address gets a live mailbox check, and valid, risky and invalid download as separate files.
- Import the valid file into your email tool, with the opted-out members as suppressed.
A check confirms the mailbox exists, not that the member agreed to marketing. Risky means unconfirmed: catch-all business domains and Microsoft's consumer domains (outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com) often can't be confirmed either way. Running a community on Circle too? Our post on exporting Circle members covers that export, which has a subscribed or unsubscribed column.
Where SimpleVerifier fits
Reading and merging are free and run in your browser; nothing is uploaded. For the mailbox check, upload the list on the verify page; the first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in. Starter is $9 a month for 2,500 checks; Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off. See pricing.
Common questions
How do I download my member list from Mighty Networks?
Go to Admin > Members > Member List and click Download, then accept the Terms of Use prompt. Mighty Networks emails you a link to the file. For members of a single plan, use Admin > Plans & Access > Plan List and the three-dot menu.
Does the Mighty Networks export show who opted out of email?
Yes. Mighty Networks' help says that if a particular column has a Yes in it, the member has opted out of receiving commercial emails. Don't send those members marketing email from another tool.
Why are email addresses missing from my Mighty Networks export?
Mighty Networks says full member data, including email addresses, depends on your plan. On a plan without it, the file lists members without addresses.
Can I email every member from Mailchimp or Kit?
Joining a network is agreement to its notifications, not to marketing from another tool. Keep members who haven't opted out, check the rules where they are, and include an opt-out and postal address in every message.
Check your list before you send
Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
