Scrubby Alternatives for Catch-All Emails: Resolve, Grade or Send and Watch
If you are looking past Scrubby, the question is how much certainty you need on catch-all addresses, and how long you can wait for it. Scrubby's Deep Verification sends a real email to each address and watches for bounces over 72 hours, at 3 credits an address on plans from $47 a month for 6,000 credits (2,000 deep checks). Alternatives either resolve unknowns with an extra check and charge only for those (Truelist), grade catch-alls without confirming them (SimpleVerifier), or let you run the send-and-watch test yourself on a small slice. Each trades cost, speed and certainty differently.
Scrubby's terms, as of 2 November 2026
From Scrubby's pricing page, read 2 November 2026:
| Plan | Price | Credits | Per 1,000 credits | Deep checks if used only for Deep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $47/mo | 6,000 | $7.83 | 2,000 |
| Growth | $97/mo | 15,000 | $6.47 | 5,000 |
| Pro | $497/mo | 100,000 | $4.97 | 33,333 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Over 100,000/mo |
The last two columns are arithmetic on the published prices.
- Quick Verification, 1 credit: "Confirms deliverability on standard, catch-all, and SEG-protected domains in minutes."
- Deep Verification, 3 credits: "We send real emails to every address and observe how mail servers respond over 72 hours." First results in 24 hours, final in 72.
- Free credits: "Start free with 200 credits", no card.
- Rollover: on monthly plans, "unused credits roll over to the next month" while the subscription is active.
- Refunds: "All purchases are final. We don't offer refunds for unused credits, partial billing periods, or dissatisfaction with results."
So deep-checking 1,000 catch-all leads costs about $23.50 on Starter, or about $15 on Pro, and takes up to three days.
The four ways to handle catch-alls
A catch-all domain accepts every address during an SMTP check, so a mailbox can't be confirmed by asking. Every option works around that one way or another. Our catch-all methods comparison goes through each in detail; in short:
| Method | Who | Cost per catch-all | Speed | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Send and watch | Scrubby Deep | 3 credits | 24-72 hours | A result based on how servers responded to a real message |
| Resolve | Truelist enhanced resolution | 3 credits, only on unknowns | Not stated | A verdict where it can resolve one |
| Grade | SimpleVerifier | Nothing extra | With the rest of the list | Risky, with higher, medium or lower likelihood and reasons |
| Do it yourself | Your own inbox | Your sending budget | 3+ days | Real bounces from your own campaign |
Truelist's terms are from its pricing page (read 2 November 2026): enhanced catch-all resolution is "applied only where standard returns 'unknown'" at 3 credits per resolved address, with credit packs from $1.40 per 1,000. Our Truelist alternatives post covers the rest of its pricing.
Things to ask any send-and-watch service
Sending a real message to your prospect's mail server is a different act from an SMTP check, so ask:
- What does the message say, and from which domain? If it lands, a person or their security team may see it.
- Can the recipient see it? Some services send messages designed not to be read, but a gateway may still log or quarantine them.
- What counts as "deliverable"? No bounce after 72 hours is weaker evidence than it sounds. Some gateways and Microsoft 365 tenants accept and then silently drop mail, or never return bounces.
None of this makes send-and-watch wrong. It's the only method that tests the path a real email takes. But know what you are buying.
The cheaper alternative: grade, then test the slice yourself
For most cold email lists, catch-alls are a slice, not the whole list. A low-cost setup:
- Verify everything with a standard check. Valid rows go into the main campaign.
- Grade the catch-all slice. SimpleVerifier returns each catch-all row as risky with a higher, medium or lower likelihood and the reasons, using signals from your list. The catch-all scoring page lists every signal and the ones we tested and rejected. We never mark a catch-all address valid.
- Send step 1 to the higher-likelihood rows in their own campaign, from a healthy inbox at low volume, and wait at least three days for late bounces before step 2. Our post on catch-all leads in sequences covers the timing.
- Pay for resolution or send-and-watch only on the leads worth it, such as named accounts in an ABM list.
This costs your own sending budget instead of credits, so watch your bounce rate. Our bounce budget post turns provider limits into bounce counts per inbox. Grading is cheaper and faster than Scrubby, and gives you less certainty. Be honest with yourself about which you need.
We haven't run an accuracy test on Scrubby, Truelist or any other vendor, and we don't publish accuracy figures for ourselves. To compare, take 300-500 catch-all rows, run them through each option, send only what each calls good, and count real bounces. Our bench test guide has the method.
When Scrubby is the right call
- Catch-alls are most of your list, for example enterprise targets behind Proofpoint or Mimecast.
- Each lead is valuable enough that 3 credits and three days is cheap.
- You want the verifier to carry the send-and-watch risk, not your own inboxes.
When an alternative fits better
- Catch-alls are under about 15% of the list.
- You need results the same day.
- You want to try before committing, since Scrubby's purchases are final.
Where SimpleVerifier fits
Grading is included in every check. Upload a list on the verify page and see your catch-all share and grades; the first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in. Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off. See pricing.
Common questions
How does Scrubby verify catch-all emails?
Its pricing page describes two modes. Quick Verification, at 1 credit, "confirms deliverability on standard, catch-all, and SEG-protected domains in minutes". Deep Verification, at 3 credits, sends real emails to every address and observes how mail servers respond over 72 hours.
How much does Scrubby cost?
On 2 November 2026: Starter $47 a month for 6,000 credits, Growth $97 for 15,000, Pro $497 for 100,000, and custom Enterprise pricing above 100,000 a month. New accounts get 200 free credits with no card.
Is there a cheaper way to verify catch-all emails?
Usually, if you don't need every catch-all confirmed. Grade them and send only the higher-likelihood ones, or send the first step of your sequence to the catch-all slice from a healthy inbox at low volume and remove anything that bounces. Both cost far less than 3 credits per address.
Does Scrubby refund unused credits?
No. Its pricing page says "All purchases are final" and that it doesn't refund unused credits, partial billing periods or dissatisfaction with results. Monthly credits roll over while the subscription is active.
