How to Verify Instantly Leads Without Exporting a CSV (Native Integration)
To verify Instantly leads without exporting a CSV, open Integrations in the SimpleVerifier dashboard (/connect), paste an Instantly API v2 key, pick a campaign or lead list and press Verify leads. Every lead is read through the Instantly API and checked, and by default each checked lead gets an sv_status custom variable (valid, risky or invalid) plus sv_verified_at. Deleting or blocking invalid leads is available, but it is off until you tick it.
The rest of this guide walks through the key, the run and the write-back options, and says what the integration does not do.
Step 1: create an Instantly API v2 key
In Instantly, open Settings > Integrations > API Keys and create an API v2 key. Older v1 keys do not work with the v2 endpoints. The scopes depend on what you want the run to do:
| You want to | Scopes |
|---|---|
| Read campaigns and their leads | campaigns:read, leads:read |
| See your workspace name and lead lists | workspaces:read, lead_lists:read |
| Tag leads with the result | leads:update |
| Delete invalid leads and block them | leads:delete, block_list_entries:create |
all:all covers all of them. It works, but a narrow key is safer: if you only want a report and tags, skip the delete and block scopes. Instantly's own developer docs list the scopes per endpoint.
Step 2: connect it on /connect
Open Integrations, choose Instantly and paste the key. It is checked with Instantly before it is saved, the workspace name is shown so you know you connected the right one, and the key is stored encrypted. The Instantly integration page lists every Instantly endpoint the integration calls.
Step 3: pick a campaign or a lead list
The integration lists both your campaigns and your lead lists. Lead lists are useful when you stage leads before they go into a campaign: checking there means a bad address never enters a sequence. Pick one and press Verify leads.
Before anything runs, a confirm screen shows the cost first: how many checks the run uses and what is left on your plan or free checks. If the leads outnumber your free checks, only that many distinct addresses are checked and the rest stay unchecked. Nothing is ever marked valid without a check.
Step 4: choose what gets written back
| Option | Default | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Tag each lead with its result | On | Writes sv_status and sv_verified_at into the lead's custom variables. Nothing is removed or paused. |
| Delete invalid leads from this campaign or list | Off | Instantly deletes those lead records from the campaign or list you picked. Other campaigns are not touched. |
| Add invalid addresses to your Instantly block list | Off | The block list covers the whole workspace, so no campaign emails them. |
Tagging is the safe default because it lets you decide in Instantly. Filter or segment on sv_status, then move risky leads into a slower test campaign and leave valid ones where they are. The destructive options sit behind an explicit confirm.
Risky is not valid. Catch-all domains, role addresses and servers that would not confirm a mailbox come back risky. The delete and block options only act on invalid leads, so risky leads stay in the campaign for you to judge. Our guide to emailing catch-all addresses shows how to test them in a small batch.
Step 5: read the run
Runs appear under Recent runs on the Integrations page, with the full results in History. Each run lists how many leads were valid, risky and invalid and what was written back.
Instantly allows 100 API calls a second and 6,000 a minute per workspace. Tagging makes one call per lead and stays under that, but other heavy API jobs in the same workspace share the allowance.
Run 100 free checks on one Instantly campaign to see the tags before you change anything else.
When a CSV is still the better route
Exporting still makes sense when you want to edit columns, merge sources or split a list into new campaigns. Upload the file on the verify page instead. For the bounce side of Instantly, see keeping your Instantly bounce rate under control; for how statuses are decided, read email verification statuses explained.
Keep new leads clean
On paid plans the same card has Auto-verify new leads daily: once a day it checks only addresses it has not seen in that campaign or list. Plan details are on pricing.
Common questions
Can I verify Instantly leads without exporting a CSV?
Yes. Connect an Instantly API v2 key on SimpleVerifier's Integrations page, pick a campaign or lead list, and press Verify leads. The leads are read through the Instantly API, checked, and the result is written back to each lead as a custom variable.
Which Instantly API scopes does the integration need?
Reading needs campaigns:read and leads:read. workspaces:read shows your workspace name and lead_lists:read shows your lead lists. Tagging needs leads:update. Deleting and blocking invalid leads also need leads:delete and block_list_entries:create. The all:all scope covers everything but gives the key more access than it needs.
Will the integration delete leads from my Instantly campaigns?
Only if you tick that option. The default is to tag each lead with sv_status and sv_verified_at. Deleting invalid leads is a separate, unticked option, it only applies to the campaign or list you picked, and the confirm screen asks before anything destructive runs.
Can it pause invalid leads in Instantly?
No. Instantly's API has no way to pause a single lead, so pausing is not offered for Instantly. You can tag, delete from the chosen campaign or list, or add to the workspace block list.
Does it cost extra?
No separate fee. A run uses one check per distinct address, the same as uploading a CSV: free checks on a free account, or your plan's allowance. The confirm screen shows what the run will use before it starts.
Check your list before you send
Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
