RocketReach Email Grades A, A-, B and F: Which Ones to Send To
RocketReach grades each email A, A-, B or F. Its own API FAQ puts A at about 98% (over 99% for personal, over 97% for professional), A- at about 90%, B at 75 to 85%, and says F is invalid and should not be sent to. B and F lookups cost no credits. In practice: send A after a fresh check, verify A- before sending, treat B as unconfirmed, and drop F.
The grades and percentages below are from RocketReach's API FAQ (updated 17 June 2026, read 2 November 2026). They're RocketReach's own estimates. The FAQ doesn't say how they're measured.
The grades, and what to do with each
| Grade | RocketReach's estimate | Credits | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | About 98% (personal over 99%, professional over 97%) | Charged | Main campaign, after a check on old exports |
| A- | About 90% | Charged | Verify, then send the valid ones |
| B | 75 to 85% | Not charged | Verify; send valid ones, hold risky ones apart |
| F | Invalid | Not charged | Don't send |
One credit rule matters for the plan: a Premium credit covers an A or A- email or a valid phone, a Standard credit an A or A- email only, and a lookup with only B or F emails costs nothing. You're only paying for the grades RocketReach stands behind.
Why B is where an outside check matters most
At RocketReach's own estimate, 15 to 25% of B emails won't work. In a 1,000-row B segment that's 150 to 250 addresses that could bounce, which is enough to push a campaign over most sequencers' pause thresholds. Our bounce rate thresholds by platform post lists them.
The FAQ doesn't say what makes an email a B. One common reason any finder can't confirm an address is a catch-all domain, where the server accepts every address. A verifier tells you whether that's the case. Our catch-all leads in sequences post covers what to do with them.
Split an export by grade before it reaches your sequencer
- Export the list. Save the profiles to a list and export it as CSV. Keep the email grade column if your export includes it; if not, note which rows came from B lookups.
- Clean the file. The RocketReach export tool pulls one email per row and drops duplicates in your browser.
- Remove F rows. Don't verify them; RocketReach already says they're invalid.
- Verify A-, B and any A rows older than a month. Upload them at /verify. Valid, risky and invalid download as separate files.
- Build two batches. Valid addresses go into the main campaign. Risky addresses, mostly catch-all, go into a smaller batch on a separate schedule, or stay out.
- Re-check before every relaunch. A grade, or a check, describes one day.
What a grade doesn't tell you
- Whether the person is still there. A mailbox can stay open for months after someone leaves. See B2B contact data decay.
- Whether it's a role inbox. info@ and sales@ can be graded A and still be a poor cold target. See role-based email addresses.
- How your domain will be treated. A clean list doesn't fix authentication or volume.

Where SimpleVerifier fits
SimpleVerifier checks the addresses in your RocketReach export and labels each valid, risky (with the reason, such as catch-all) or invalid. The first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in on the verify page. Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off. One-time packs of 10,000 checks for $15 never expire (CSV only). See pricing.
Common questions
What does a B grade mean on RocketReach?
RocketReach's API FAQ puts a B grade email at 75 to 85%, below A (about 98%) and A- (about 90%). It doesn't say how grades are decided. No credits are charged when a lookup returns only B or F emails.
Should I send cold email to RocketReach B grade emails?
Not in the same batch as your confirmed addresses. Verify them first. Drop any that come back invalid, and send the risky ones (often catch-all domains) in a separate, smaller batch or not at all.
Does RocketReach charge for F grade emails?
No. The FAQ says no credits are charged when a lookup returns only B or F emails, and that F means invalid and should not be sent to.
Do I need to verify RocketReach A grade emails?
A fresh check before the send is still worth it on a large or old export. The grade is RocketReach's estimate from its last check, and people change jobs after that.
