Klenty and Mixmax: Verify Prospects Before They Enter a Cadence or Sequence

··2 min read

Klenty can verify prospects itself, for a fee; Mixmax only acts after a bounce. Klenty's paid email validation checks prospects on import and can keep invalid and risky ones out of cadences. Mixmax removes a recipient from a sequence once a message hard bounces, which means the bounce has already landed on your domain. For either tool, cleaning and verifying the CSV before upload is the way to keep the first stage from doing the checking.

What each tool does with a bad address

Klenty Mixmax
Check before sending Optional paid validation: auto on create/import, or manually via More Options > Validate Email Not described in its help centre
Keep bad prospects out Toggles: don't add invalid, don't add risky prospects to cadences —
After a bounce Prospect marked bounced, further emails stopped Hard bounce removes the recipient immediately; shown in reports
Cost One credit per address; purchased credits expire after a month, no rollover —

Klenty's built-in route is convenient if all your prospects go through Klenty. If you verify the same leads for several tools, or want the results in your CRM too, verifying the CSV once before upload avoids paying twice.

Preparing the CSV

  1. Fix the headers. Mixmax needs a column headed email (case doesn't matter) and no periods or special symbols in any header; underscores are fine. Klenty maps columns on import.
  2. Save as UTF-8. Otherwise names with accents and apostrophes break your merge fields. Fixing garbled characters in a CSV covers the fix.
  3. Remove blanks, duplicates and role addresses. Mixmax skips rows with a blank email. The cold email list checker flags duplicates, typo domains, role addresses and your do-not-contact list in one pass.
  4. Drop anyone on your suppression list from past campaigns; building a cold email suppression list explains how.
  5. Verify the file on the verify page.
  6. Upload valid results to the main cadence or sequence. Put risky and unknown results in a separate, smaller one, and watch its bounce rate before scaling it.

The risky decision

Klenty's "Do not add prospects with risky email addresses" toggle is the clearest version of a choice every sequencer user makes. Risky results are mostly catch-all company domains, which accept every address so single mailboxes can't be confirmed, and Microsoft-hosted mailboxes, including consumer ones (outlook.com, hotmail.com), which don't answer single-mailbox checks reliably. Blocking them all protects bounces at the cost of real buyers; sending them all with valid prospects mixes the risk into your main domain. A separate cadence on a secondary domain is the usual middle path.

Same job in other tools: Reply.io, Woodpecker and Saleshandy and Outreach and Salesloft.

Where SimpleVerifier fits

Verify a prospect CSV on the verify page before it goes into any sequencer; the first 100 checks are free with a Google sign-in. Pro is $39 a month with the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off. See pricing.

Common questions

Does Klenty verify emails?

Yes, as a paid add-on. Klenty's support article describes automatic validation when a prospect is created or imported, statuses of Not validated, Processing, Valid, Invalid and Risky, and settings that stop invalid or risky prospects being added to cadences. Each address uses one credit, and purchased credits expire a month after purchase.

Does Mixmax verify emails before sending a sequence?

Its help centre describes bounce handling: a hard bounce removes the recipient from the sequence immediately and shows in sequence reports. It doesn't describe a mailbox check before the first stage, so verify the CSV first if bounces matter.

Should I turn on 'Do not add prospects with risky email addresses' in Klenty?

Only if you'd rather lose some real prospects than risk any bounces. Risky results include catch-all domains and servers that won't confirm single mailboxes. A middle path is to keep them out of the main cadence and run them through a separate, slower cadence.

Why did Mixmax skip some rows in my CSV?

Mixmax's CSV guide says rows with an empty email cell are skipped, the column must be headed 'email', and the file should be UTF-8. Prospects can also be exited by default settings, such as not receiving the same sequence twice.
